Inspiring Conversations with Tia Clark of Tia Clark Photography and Boudoirs with Tia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Clark.

Hi Tia , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started 4 years ago when my cousin asked me to take her daughter’s kindergarten graduation pictures. At the time, I didn’t have a camera so I borrowed my mom’s. After that first session, I fell in love with photography & six months later, I asked Santa for my first camera. Since then, I have taken multiple classes (Northland Pioneer College & Mesa Community College) and added new lenses & other camera gear to my camera collection.

Over the years, I have found a passion for portrait photography. It is all about capturing the moment and making people feel happy with themselves and leave the session feeling really good about themselves. That is why I have, also, started taking Boudoirs as well. I love body confidence and using photoshop and lightroom as little as possible. While editing, I am a firm believer of keeping the photo realistic.

For almost a year, I worked at a digitizing company where I was a Photoshop editor. This really helped improve my ability to edit all kinds of pictures and further understand what every edit does to an image.

Today, I have two Associates Degrees from Mesa Community College and I am two semesters away from my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at Benedictine University in Mesa.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not. I have never had the opportunity to take pictures full time. Since I am a full time student and work full time, it leaves a little bit of room for photography but not a whole lot. Luckily, I just recently got a job that will allow me to have more time for my photography.

This last year has been especially hard because I have lost three family members. Back in January, we lost my grandpa and uncle to covid-19. Last month, we lost my nana to dementia.

Losing family makes you realize how important pictures are. The memories will always be there, but it is comforting to be able to go back and look at those pictures. We tend to forget the little details sometimes.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Tia Clark Photography and Boudoirs with Tia?
My business includes all type of sessions. I specialize in portrait photography and taking pictures outdoors during golden hours. I am known for my graduation/senior sessions and boudoirs.

What sets me apart from others is my ability to create art with my pictures. Posing is especially my favorite because I am a sculptor and I have studied bodies throughout art history. Visually, there is not a lot that can get past me. I notice misplaced hair, clothes tags, strings, and anything out of the norm.

I am very proud of each session and the amount of images I give to my clients. I never put a limit on the amount of pictures they receive. Most the time, I give them more than 75 images.

I want people to know that I am really passionate about my photography. I constantly try to learn new skills that will improve the quality of sessions and images. I am a firm believer that there is always more to learn and implement.

What are your plans for the future?
I am really looking forward to taking my photography to the next level. With that being said, taking pictures in spectacular outdoor areas. For example, I have recently traveled to Hawaii and the Virgin Islands.

I am also really looking forward to getting more involved in boudoir photography. I am really passionate about body positivity and body confidence.

I will be graduating in May too which is a major accomplishment since I am a first generation college student.
