Our inspiration came from our love for dogs and the belief that every dog deserves a safe and fun place to play and socialize. This realization, coupled with our desire to demonstrate to our child, Dylan, the value of hard work and the realities of running a business, set the foundation for our venture.

Our commitment to consistency and safety has always been paramount, ensuring that every dog in our care receives the best possible experience.

Building Dogtopia wasn’t without its challenges. We faced the typical ups and downs of starting a business, learning to navigate the operational complexities while staying true to our mission. However, our passion for what we do and the unwavering support from our community kept us moving forward.

Today, Dogtopia stands as a testament to our hard work and dedication. We’ve created a thriving, supportive community where dogs can socialize, play, and grow in a safe environment. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Running Dogtopia has had its share of challenges, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many small businesses, we faced significant hurdles that tested our resilience and adaptability. One of the toughest periods was when we had to close down multiple times due to the pandemic. These closures were not just disruptive but also brought a real fear of permanent closure.

The uncertainty of when we could reopen and how the business would survive was a constant concern. We had to navigate through evolving health guidelines, ensure the safety of our staff and furry friends, and manage the financial strain that came with the loss of regular operations.

However, the silver lining in these challenging times was the incredible support from our Dogtopia community. Our loyal families and their furry companions played a crucial role in our survival. They stood by us, understanding the difficulties we faced and eagerly returning when we could safely reopen. Their unwavering support, participation in our programs, and enthusiasm for the services we offer kept us going.

We also saw an inspiring level of community spirit and generosity. Many of our clients went out of their way to support us, whether by pre-purchasing services, donating, or simply spreading the word about Dogtopia. This sense of community and the shared love for our dogs not only helped us survive but reinforced the importance of the relationships we’ve built.

Susan and Michael each bring unique backgrounds and qualities that have shaped who they are today. Susan grew up in Long Island, NY. From a young age, she was known for being a helper and a rule follower. Volunteering her time and putting others before herself came naturally to her. These traits have always been a core part of who she is.

Susan pursued her education with the same dedication, ultimately graduating with a master’s degree from American University. Her commitment to helping others and her strong sense of responsibility have greatly influenced her approach to running Dogtopia.

Michael, on the other hand, is a Phoenix native. His love for sports was evident early on, and he has always been an independent thinker. Growing up, Michael’s integrity and honesty were key principles he lived by. He graduated from Arizona State University, bringing his values of fairness and straightforwardness into every aspect of his life. These principles have been crucial in building the trust and credibility of Dogtopia.
