Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophie Kochmann
Hi Sophie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello! My name is Sophie Kochmann and I am originally from a small town right outside of Fargo, North Dakota. Being from a small town, I always loved supporting small businesses and seeing them thrive. Throughout my entire life, i’ve had a drive for creating content and learning all of the in’s and out’s of social media. What started as recording old videos on an ipad in 2008, to getting the opportunity to work with amazing local creatives and brands, to now being a small business owner myself. I have seen first hand the impact that social media can have on the overall growth of a business.
As a little girl, I had always dreamt of one day owning my own business, however I was always unsure of exactly what that would entail. In 2023, I graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Strategic Communication and minor in Apparel Retail Merchandising. Through my first year of post grad I was able to continue to expand my knowledge, work alongside amazing and empowering women, and finally decided to take the leap and go for it.
In September of 2024, my dream of being a female business owner become my reality as I launched “The Golden Social Club.”
“The Golden Social Club,” started as a social media marketing agency but I have now also added Wedding Content Creation to my list of services. SO whether you are looking to drive new business, reach new customers, create a community of loyal followers, or watch someone to help capture special moments of your wedding day, I am here to add that golden touch!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a business owner has definitely brought many challenges and obstacles along the way, however I am very lucky to have an amazing support system in my friends, family, and my faith. I also have to give a quick shoutout to my dad who started his own business alongside his brother in 1983 and recently retired after 37 successful years. I am very blessed to have someone so close to me that knows the ins and outs of owning a business. I thank God everyday that I have so many amazing people that push me to go after my dreams, there is no way I would be anywhere if it weren’t for them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Golden Social Club is a social media marketing agency to help businesses both big and small reach their social media goals. Whether you are looking for someone to help with planning a feed, building up your following, or are wanting a full brand audit, I am here to help!
I am also excited to announce that I am now offering a new service of Wedding Content Creation! A wedding content creator is someone who tags alongside your wedding photographer and captures all of the behind the scenes moments of your day.
I am based out of Fargo, North Dakota but am a traveler a heart. I have clients both in Fargo and Arizona. This makes it so fun and allows me to experience every season hehe!
The Golden Social Club is here to add that golden touch to your socials you’ve been looking for!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I spent most of my time recording videos of myself doing makeup, showing off my outfit, sneaking into my older sisters room (sorry Lindsay and Whitney…) or covering songs…that will never see the light of day lol. I also loved choreographing dances and forcing my younger brother Carter to take part in every single one.
However as I got to middle school, I began to lose that creative spark I once had. I had friends but always felt like the odd one out and struggled with anxiety. I began to worry so much about what other people thought and began to fixate on it. I thought that I needed to look a certain way, present myself a certain way, and be someone I just wasn’t. I didn’t understand what anxiety was and thought that me seeking help would only make it all worse. I wish I could go back and give little Sophie a big hug. After many pep talks from my amazing mom, prioritizing my mental health, and therapy..I slowly started to regain that creative spark.
In High School I enjoyed getting involved in anything I possibly could and would try just about anything once. Whether that be volleyball, dance, cross country, track, student council, baseball stats, one act play, or leading a student section in chants at sporting events. Although not all of them worked out for me, (as I am incredibly uncoordinated) I still found so much joy in trying new things!
This brings me to where I am today! If little Sophie could see where I am today, she would be screaming and SO proud.
