Inspiring Conversations with Sandy Bartlett of Sandy Bartlett Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy Bartlett.

Sandy Bartlett

Hi Sandy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began when my first husband decided he no longer wanted to be married. Rather than owning his part, he essentially put it all on me and made the statement that I no longer needed him. I told him I still needed him, I just needed him differently. He still walked away.

When a friend dragged me to a singles event – someone asked me what I liked to do and I did not know what to say. It was at that moment I realized my entire entity was wrapped up in being who everyone else expected me to be.

I kept repeating that pattern over and over – in friend relationships, love relationships and work relationships. I felt like a chameleon – doing what everyone else wanted or expected me to do or be. I would say yes when I wanted to say no.

I grew tired of always being told who and what to be feeling like my voice didn’t matter and wearing a different mask depending on who I was with rather than being my true self.

It’s now my passion and my mission to help other women become their best self and recognize the worth they were born with.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not a smooth road although not sure I recognized that until much later. My tendency is to just deal and move on. Through my journey and training to become a coach, I’ve learned to be me and to speak my truth. I’ve learned that the stories I’ve told myself do not have to be my reality. I’ve learned to use my voice with confidence and that it’s okay to be me and speak my truth. As a life long learner, I continue to learn and improve and become stronger and gentler at the same time.

Coaching has helped me see who I really am. While an introvert, I can still speak up, I can still show me, I don’t have to hide behind those stories I’ve told myself for years. We all have a choice in how we deal with life. Circumstances can make us or break us but they don’t have to define us.

Growing up, I struggled with being shy…just a story I told myself.
My mom always said I was ‘big-boned’…just a story I allowed myself to believe.
My first husband said I looked ‘unfriendly’ with long hair…just another story.
My first husband told me twice in our marriage he was no longer attracted to me because I had gained weight…again, another story.

My entire life and even corporate career – I attempted to live up to what everyone else expected of me, acted the way I was told I should act. Now I’m living life on my terms and it feels amazing!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sandy Bartlett Coaching?
Do you ever feel like the person you present to the world is not the same one as the one you see in the mirror?

I’m Sandy, your Self-Discovery Coach.

I work with women experiencing their second spring standing at the crossroads of change. I help them reclaim their soul so they wake up every day excited, confident and fulfilled.

I assist them in silencing their inner critic, using their voice with confidence and being their authentic selves without apology. My passion is to help women live a joy-filled life and stop feeling guilty for taking care of themselves. Too many women are trying to live up to everyone else’s expectations but their own.

I help women ‘Redefine’ themselves. I have a free workshop where we look at where they’ve been to help them determine what their next life chapter will be. We use an exercise called ‘Your Life as a Perfectly Written Novel’ where they look at the prior chapters of their life and define what the next chapter will look like.

They get to decide and craft it rather than bending and shaping their life to fit someone else’s expectations. I use a variety of modalities in my signature coaching program – Second Spring Awakening – including 1:1 coaching, tarot, pendulum dowsing, tapping, and reiki to help them align with their higher self and begin living life on their own terms.

I’m also about to launch my podcast. It is called “Journey to Self”. I’m excited to share my own journey, tips to help others and will occasionally have guests on. I’m planning for the episodes to be no more than 20 minutes so they can be listened to in short periods of time. The first episode is slated for October 1, 2024 and I’ll be releasing two episodes per month. You can find them on Spotify or wherever you listen to podcast as well as the video version on my YouTube channel.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I am an avid reader and this year set an intention to read every day. I’m on my 15th book and it’s only July. Some that have made a huge impact recently are – ‘Life’s Golden Ticket’ by Brendon Burchard; ‘Evolutionary Empath’ by Dr. Stephanie Redfeather; ‘Who is Jesus to You’ – each chapter written by a different author; and currently ‘High Performance Habits’ by Brendon Burchard.

I listen to podcasts while walking on my treadmill. Moving your body inspires creativity and I’m no exception. A few of my favs are ‘Starting a Business Simplified’, ‘The Success Through Community Podcast’; ‘Just Between Coaches’; ‘Business Sexcess’; ‘Feng Shui Living’ and ‘The Confidence Podcast’. I’ve often gone back and re-listened to one of them so I can take notes although now I keep a small recorder on my treadmill so I can record something that has triggered inspiration.

As far as apps go – I use ‘Insight Timer’ daily as part of my morning and evening routine.
