Inspiring Conversations with Samantha Briguglio of Walk the Natural Path Women’s Health and Fertility Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Briguglio.

Hi Samantha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I never wanted to be a doctor. I am not a fan of school, and well, as all of you know becoming a doctor requires a lot of school. However, I knew I wanted to enter the medical field—I have always had a passion for the human body and helping others. Throughout my journey, I did a ton of shadowing and met amazing health professionals, but I realized I was always led back to natural medicine. My story of how I got here began when I was a child. I was pretty ill as a kid. I was on breathing treatments, many medications, and in and out of Phoenix Children’s Hospital. When they wanted to perform surgery, my mom finally said no, and that is when she found naturopathic medicine. They discovered that I had severe allergies, causing many of my major health issues. It took a while, but I began to heal with the treatments they prescribed. I still deal with many allergies but no longer take medications or breathing treatments. Naturopathic medicine has brought me to a place of confidence, peace, and health. This medicine saved me from living a version of my life on medications and fear. The individuals within the profession inspire me and make me want to do good in this world. It’s beyond just helping people heal; it teaches them how to heal themselves. Naturopathic medicine chose me. My journey through life has always pointed me in this direction, and I’m so thankful for the opportunities I have been given. I can’t wait to work with other medical professionals to help patients live happier and healthier versions of themselves!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
My journey down this road has been long and full of challenges, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Through the many challenges, one stands out amongst the rest. I am dyslexic, and despite always working hard in school, it was always very challenging for me. I remember sitting in my first class of medical school and tearing up from the fact that I was supposed to be learning, and I couldn’t keep up or understand a word my professor was saying. The first year of medical school was miserable. I learned a lot, but my entire life revolved around school. Wake up at 5 am and study, class from 8-5 pm, study from 5-9 pm, repeat. Even on weekends, I had a study schedule from 8 am-6 pm (sometimes longer). This is what was required of me; otherwise, I would not have been able to keep up. I barely passed my first exams. Eventually, with enough hard work, I completed most of my tests. I share this part of the journey because, at one point, I wanted to give up. I did not feel smart enough or adequate. However, I persevered and excelled; today, I have my dream job. I was told to quit, I wanted to quit, but I didn’t, and I am so thankful for that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk about your work. What should we know?
I am a naturopathic doctor that specializes in hormone health and fertility care. I work with individuals and couples to treat the root cause of infertility and hormone health. My work with patients is my greatest passion in life. My goal is to make sure each one of my patients is truly heard so that we can create an individualized treatment plan based on their needs. What makes me stand apart? My passion and credentials do. I have an undergraduate degree in exercise science and a naturopathic medical degree. I have completed year-long fertility care mentorship with the leading expert in natural fertility, Dr. Jaclyn Smeaton. I truly believe in and love what I do, which comes across in my patient visits. I offer visits a la carte, but I also have packages that can save the patient hundreds of dollars. My practice takes HSA/FSA, and I can order insurance-covered labs.
