Inspiring Conversations with S A Decker Weiss NMD, FASA,PLC of Weiss Heart and Longevity and Global Medical

Today we’d like to introduce you to S A Decker Weiss NMD, FASA,PLC.

Hi Decker, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am dual credentialed as a Naturopathic Physician and a Cardiologist. I graduated from Western Illinois University (BS) 1987, Sonoran University of Health Sciences 1997, Harvard Kennedy School in 2021. (Public Leadership)

I was on staff at Arizona Heart Hospital for 10 years, and now split my time between private practice and my NGO Global Medical.
(gmedical.org)

I practice 60% cardiology and the rest in specific longevity work include osteoporosis, and mitochondrial disorders such as tremor, neuropathy, heart failure, and others.

I have been practicing for over 25 years and still enjoy it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are two challanges, (1) is the slow modernization and adaption of advanced preventative and regenerative models cardiology, (2) the lack of insurance and medicare support for our seniors.

In reference to the first item, it is said that cardiology is like the Titanic but it turns much slower and hits many more icebergs.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Weiss Heart and Longevity and Global Medical ?
I am proud to have simultaneously grown a successful practice AND and a Global non-profit that has worked in Iraq, Ukraine, Senegal, Thailand, Viet Nam, Nepal, Bangladesh, Haiti, and more regions embroiled in conflict and poverty.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I have been blessed with great teachers. In residency I had attending physicians that did not want me there (because I am a Naturopath) but still spent hours teaching me because it was the right thing to do.
