Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosemarie Munsell.

Hi Rosemarie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello! I am Rosemarie Munsell, Co-Owner and Founder of LavenderRose Oils & Essences LLC. My business partner, Juls Maxwell is a certified Holistic Nutrition Coach and currently resides with her family in Austin, TX. My personal journey into the world of essential oils began many years ago with a growing interest in all things health and wellness. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit (formerly an Interior Designer, originally from Kansas City, Missouri) with a heart for beauty, balance and positive energy in and outside of the home. Picking up and moving to Arizona with my daughter several years ago (she had a wonderful job opportunity that she couldn’t refuse) was, as some of my friends described, “adventurous” “courageous” “brave” and perhaps a little “scary”! We moved to Scottsdale, loved it, and have never looked back!

My interest in essential oils began as most do with the most well-known one, Lavender, to help with sleep. However, I knew there had to be so much more. I studied the therapeutic benefits of many different oils and how to use them and realized how complex the world of essential oils really was—I knew I needed a formal education in essential oils in order to master the practice of aromatherapy. Not ever wanting to do something just halfway, I researched schools that would teach aromatherapy, not just the therapeutic benefits, but the pharmacology behind each oil, proper blending techniques and formulas, spiritual and physical qualities and so much more! I completed my training in aromatherapy, and thus, the birth of LavenderRose Oils & Essences.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have found that nothing in life is ever “smooth” and learned early on to look at “struggles” as challenges or opportunities for change. It really comes down to a positive attitude and an intense desire to succeed. Going from service-oriented businesses to a product-based business certainly had an entirely new set of challenges…creating the products, sourcing the inventory, labels, bottling, marketing! I have to say, however, that I have loved the entire journey.

It took time and patience, however, we believe we have sourced only the finest, 100% pure, organic, therapeutic quality essential oils to create our products—each product is thoughtfully handcrafted. Although our products address a variety of issues, we found a little humor in naming them!

Creating new and innovative products is most satisfying. I find a great deal of inspiration from traveling. During my most recent trip to the beach (post Covid), I was inspired to create several new products: “JOYFUL” to see the sunrise and count our blessings especially after this past year …”NO FEAR” for the bravery we have all needed to keep going … “SEIZE THE DAY” (my new personal motto) a reminder to not procrastinate and make the most of each day!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about LavenderRose Oils & Essences LLC?
Our business model is founded on the principles of creating unique, synergistic, therapeutic BLENDS, rather than selling individual oils. We know that there are hundreds of essential oil companies. You can walk into any store or go online and buy a bottle of a random essential oil. However, we listened to many people that had questions. What do you do with it? How is it used? What is its purpose? Is it safe? Can I combine it with other oils? Isn’t Lavender just for sleep? Is it organic?

We believe that with our education and research, we can answer these questions and have truly taken the “guesswork” out of which oils blend well together, as well as which oils are for inhalation only and which can be safely used topically. We have determined the correct ratio which must be used when blending multiple essential oils, as well as those which require carrier oils for topical use. Each of our blends has a unique purpose and the oils used have been intentionally combined to create a synergy or therapeutic use. Synergy, in simple terms, means that the blend of oils works together to create a greater therapeutic benefit than if each oil is used separately.

LavenderRose Oils & Essences is a women owned business. We are not an MLM (multi-level marketing company). We are hands on! We do not stock or pre-pour in large quantities, but rather, we hand pour with very thoughtful intention and mindfulness, each product in small batches. Handcrafting our products in smaller quantities is important to us to ensure that our customers receive the highest quality and freshness.

Our products are quite varied and cover many uses, however, from time to time, a custom blend might be necessary. As an Aromatherapist, I am able to consult with my clients and formulate a custom product when the situation calls for it.

Although the majority of our business is online and in-person events, we do offer our products for sale inside of Body Therapy and Hair Spa located at 15001 N Hayden in Scottsdale.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Depending on your product or service, mentoring can take many forms. It doesn’t necessarily have to be one-on-one or in-person. Following experts in your field, joining live training videos and being able to interact virtually with them is another way to engage. In my experience, most mentors are happy to respond to questions in private messages or emails.

As far as networking is concerned, what I believe is the most successful, is attending events and connecting with like-minded people. I was recently invited to participate in a local Phoenix employer’s health and wellness event for its employees. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet not only the employees but to establish long lasting connections with many of the vendors and practitioners in attendance. Weather permitting, I have also participated in many local markets. I love being able to engage with people in-person.
