Inspiring Conversations with Rachelle Faniel of PureLotus Scents LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Faniel.

Hi Rachelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started this business to help me gain financial freedom and to help set my kids up for college. Having multiple income streams is very important for a single mother of three. To find financial independence, I had to figure out what would bring me joy. I knew I loved making scents and figured making candles would be easy. I was so wrong. I tried to make my first candle, which did not turn out well. It was a disaster. But I didn’t want to give up. So, I turned the candle into wax melts and started selling them. Once I had more time and gained more confidence and knowledge, I tried the candles again. It took me about 2 1/2 months to get everything right. But once I completed that challenge, I knew I had to try something else. That something else has now grown to body products such as body mists. I am constantly growing and challenging myself because being creative gives me freedom and peace.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. It has been quite busy and tiring, but I’m not complaining because I love it. I still work a full-time night job, so when I have orders, I try to fulfill them before I head to bed. The most challenging obstacle has been trying to please everyone. I’ve finally realized that pleasing everyone is not the task. Creating a brand and products that I’m proud of, now that’s the task! People loving and enjoying the products is just the bonus!

Thanks for sharing that. So, could tell us a bit more about your business.
We are known for our custom blended items. We create custom scents for our clients and put the fragrances into candles, incense body sprays, etc. We also love helping our fellow entrepreneurs exceed their goals. What sets us apart from other brands is that we work hard to make the perfect blends for our customers and clients. We are focused on providing scents that are extraordinary to the senses. We have now opened up a brick-and-mortar location that houses other small businesses. We just had our grand opening celebration on June 3rd. It was amazing! This event allowed our vendors to be seen and gave customers, new and old, the opportunity to discover what we do. They were also able to create custom scents for themselves.

Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
I’m not a person who believes in luck. If that were the case, I would’ve been a millionaire long ago. I believe that my hard work has provided me the skills that I need in this industry. Being noticed and appreciated also helps with that motivation and passion. When you surround yourself with people who believe in and see your vision, you can accomplish everything you set out to. Having a pure heart and mind, a great team and peace will always be better than having luck.
