Hi Matthew, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I realized I wanted more than just to see the world — I wanted to experience it. After 17 years in the pharmacy industry, where attention to detail and genuine care were part of everything I did, I felt a pull in a new direction. I wanted to help others explore the world in a way that was meaningful, personal, and intentional.

That’s how Terra Explored Travel came to life — born from my passion for travel and built on the belief that no two journeys should ever be the same.

I specialize in custom-curated travel, both international and domestic, with a strong focus on deep, slow travel. To me, it’s not about rushing through a list of landmarks — it’s about sipping wine in the hills of Portugal, road-tripping through the hidden corners of Arizona, or lingering over a long lunch in a coastal village in Italy. It’s about taking the time to connect with places and people.

Every itinerary I create is tailored to the traveler — built around their interests, pace, and passions. Whether you’re planning a wine-themed European adventure, a weekend getaway in the Southwest, or a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon, I’m here to design a journey that feels effortless, personal, and unforgettable.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think overall its been pretty smooth, I have been working very slow, and the biggest challenge is client acquisition. It is hard to become visible and, of course, build trust with people to spend $5,000, $10,000, or $20,000 with you on travel. I have gone the route of being out there in the community, doing local events to try to meet people and just talk about travel. I don’t have to sell anything at the moment, and I don’t. Instead, I want to start to get to know each person.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think there will be a lot more automation, and things will get easier; we will have many more tools to help us do the job, but the job will get more and more personal and about that client relationship. I hope the world gets more approachable but I am afraid the opposite might be true.
