Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Adams.
Hi Lindsay, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The journey to an entrepreneur is sometimes linear but sometimes a little more complex. Starting Lindsay Marie Design 10 years ago was a little more complex, and a series of events led to creating my brand and vision. Although a lot has changed over the years, with the biggest changes being the most recent, the core of the business has stayed the same. I am designing and selecting jewelry that women can keep to add a little whimsy and sparkle to their everyday, evenings out, and for the bigger moments in life. It truly is so special to have a small part in those moments. Even just thinking about the places my pieces travel to and the memories made with my customers wearing them is truly special and adds a lot of joy to this already happy industry.
Lindsay Marie Design was envisioned 10 years ago while I lived in New York City. As much as I loved living in the city, I was ready for a change but wanted to stay in a creative field where I could use my design, styling, and editorial background. Working at Vogue magazine in the accessories department, I first discovered my love of combining creative marketing, design, and styling editorials. Owning a jewelry business, I can enjoy all of these aspects. The possibilities with jewelry and accessories are limitless, which I’ve discovered more and more as time passes.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
As with any business, especially being an entrepreneur, there will always be challenges. I’ve learned not to let those challenges defeat you but to help you grow and become even stronger. Sometimes we need to learn the hard lessons and make mistakes to be even better and realize our full potential. This also helps improve the business because the lessons have been learned, and there is only room to improve.
As an entrepreneur, there is a constant learning curve, but the biggest challenge I’ve had to overcome so far is learning how to work smarter and not harder. This past year has been a pivotal turning point in that aspect, and it all comes down to working with the best manufacturers and suppliers who can design and manufacture the pieces from start to finish. With this part of the business being more efficient and the product quality staying on par, the challenge is to continue growing the business with creative marketing. With time freed up on the product side, there is a lot more room and time for marketing efforts, which also happens to be my favorite part of the business, as I love getting out here and working with influencers, other creatives in the industry, as well as putting myself out there more and doing both fun and creative projects with the product.
Another creative challenge is strategizing unique ways to stand out and stay authentic, and be a brand women can relate to and be inspired by. Creating beautiful visuals and storytelling and showing pieces worn in real-life settings is gratifying and helps bring the pieces and brand to life. It’s essential to me to create a brand and be a source of inspiration. I want women who, when they look at a pair of earrings, can visualize themselves wearing them on a special night out, on that magical vacation, or during one of the bigger moments in life, like a wedding. Showing the different ways pieces can be worn and the places they can be worn to and enjoyed is a big part. It’s a part I find a lot of joy in. It’s lovely to think about all the happy moments my pieces have a small part in.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us more about your business.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those just starting.
My biggest advice would be to stay curious and not be afraid of change constantly. Changes while running a business can be scary but are also necessary and typically help propel the business forward. Staying the same and not being willing to adapt to a changing world (hello, social media!) and industry will only keep your business stuck in the same place, which is typically not good.
The theme of staying curious also goes for many other aspects of the business. Look at what others are doing in your industry or similar industries and really deep dive and find out what’s working and what isn’t. Always be open to learning better ways to run your business. Delegate and learn from others! Most of us don’t know how to do every aspect of the business, and my goodness, there are many aspects. Be bold, ask for guidance from others, and delegate tasks to others who can help make your business run more efficiently and effortlessly. This might take time, as many business owners (like myself, back in the day) often start doing everything by themselves, but this is also why it’s so important to not give up in the beginning, because you learn so much as time goes on.
As mentioned above, Don’t give up! If you believe in something, you have to give it your everything, and it most likely will not happen overnight. It will be hard, and there will always be challenges, but it can always be gratifying.
