Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerri Logan Shirk

Hi Kerri, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My passion for travel began at a young age as I was always fascinated with maps and ancient cultures. With a history degree under my belt, 4 years in the US Navy and many years experience in the mortgage and banking industry, it was time for a change! I dove head first into the travel industry as a business development manager for a major resort chain. Years later and with much experience, I now own two award winning travel agencies.

After planning my own destination wedding in the Caribbean, I knew I could help others create the wedding of their dreams. I have now planned hundreds of Destination Weddings across the Caribbean and Mexico as well as exotic honeymoons and romatic vacations to far flung places like Bora Bora and Maldives. I know what it takes to execute group travel successfully and the little nuances that come specifically with the wedding industry just as well as I can put together a romantic trip for two.

But what I really want you to know is that working with me is like working with a friend. I treat all of my clients as I do my family or besties. You are getting an authentic, down to earth human who cares deeply about you and your travel plans – whether its a weekend getaway to Cabo or a 200 person wedding in St Lucia. Once you get to know me, you will see I am a little bit goofy, a little bit zen and a whole lotta heart!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
By far the biggest challenge during my time as a business owner was during COVID. The entire world just just down and for about 6 months, no one was traveling which means I was not making any money. I spent my days unraveling trips, destinaiton weddings and trying to recoup refunds for clients. I spent 8-10 hours days working for no money becaue in travel, you do not get paid until your client travels. It was a dark time but by June of 2020 we started to see a light at the end of the tunnel and things picked up again in 2021. It definitely taught many of us in the industry to start charging upfront fees for our time and value without relying on the commissions from travel suppliers.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sunlover Travel?
We are an award wining boutique travel agency specializing in honeymoons, destination weddings and luxury travel. Bu more than that, we are a heart centered group of women who want to connect with our clients in a meaningful way and help them with some of the most important journeys of their lives.

What makes you happy?
I try to find little sparks of happiness in everything I do, even during the tough moments. Watching someone’s destinaiton wedding unfold after months of planning brings me absolute joy. But so does spending time with my 3 adorable (but spoiled) frenchies. My perfect Friday night consists of hanging out with my hubby on the couch with our dogs, ordering take out and catching up on the latest Real Housewives episode. (Its a guilty pleasure!)

Yoga, meditation and travel also help to calm my mind, move my energy and get me back to a place of centered gratitude. Travel alone can do so much for the soul whether it is connecting with your loved one during a special uninterupted moment by the beach or exploring some of the world’s most ancient places that may challenge your own beliefs.
