Today we’d like to introduce you to Jummy Ikuseru.
Hi Jummy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Classy Sisters Wigs was started in September 1999 by Toni and Karen. Karen brought on her extensive expertise working with wigs and people with hair loss, while Toni came on as a business partner with a background in radiology. Together they built a business passionate about helping anyone going through any medical-related hair loss or looking for a fun wig. In 2021, when the sisters decided to retire, my husband and I found out about them and loved the passion with which they had been providing excellent care and service for decades. We bought the business and have carried on the vision and mission since then.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been quite an adjustment, especially on the service side of the business, because I did not know anything about wigs. Still, we quickly structured learning times with the licensed cosmetologists we had on staff in addition to online learning courses. Leaning on the expertise of the staff we kept on after purchasing the business has been pivotal in our sustained growth and success. In more recent times, dealing with the economic fallout of the pandemic has been another challenge. Still, we’re confident in the niche of our service and our non-profit partners’ collaboration.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Classy Sisters Wigs?
Classy Sisters Wigs is a wig shop that mainly provides wigs, accessories, and services for people going through medical-related hair loss like alopecia, chemotherapy, thyroid issues, and even Covid hair loss. We do wig fittings essential to find the most natural-looking wigs. Our partnerships with local non-profits help us expand our reach to customers who otherwise may need help to afford a wig or hairpiece. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service. We understand how important hair is as a part of one’s identity and how difficult it can be to find a natural wig that fits comfortably. Our services range from wig fittings, wig sizing, and adjustments, wig care and products, restyling, head covers and accessories, or even basic wig education for first-time wig wearers. We’re happy to help customers feel more like themselves in a natural-looking wig or a fun, colorful one!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
It would have been a much more rocky venture for my husband and me if we didn’t have the guidance and expertise of the sisters, Toni and Karen, and our employees – Nikki, Monica, Natrice, and Britney. We’ve also had amazing customers who leave honest reviews and refer us to friends and loved ones. Also crucial to our success is the partnership of non-profit organizations like Check for a Lump and Wigged Out, who exist solely to support breast cancer patients and others going through one medical-related hair loss or the other. They work hard locally in the community providing free education, mammograms, funding, gift baskets, and so much more resources to help through a difficult phase in people’s lives.
