Inspiring Conversations with John Christ of Wil’s Grill

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Christ. Them and their team share their story with us below:

John Christ has grown up in the restaurant business and has been cooking his whole life. His father, Wil Christ, a previous restaurant owner himself, is the namesake for John’s endeavor, Wil’s Grill. John’s experience ranges from fine dining to quick-serve food services and he has earned a reputation for hospitality-driven service in past positions. John says, “I would wish for our customers to be considered nothing less than our friends.”

Wil’s Grill was formed in 2014 by two good buddies, John and Karl. Wil’s Grill now serves all over the state of Arizona. Since 2015, Wil’s Grill has focused on providing a high-quality, elegant, and western dining experience for a variety of events. Their specialty is full-service catering for wedding receptions. Their motto is “Have Grill, Will Travel.”

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business from the ground up with very little investment was (and still is) certainly a challenge. Finding a position within the market, locating an affordable commercial facility to operate out of, developing systems and procedures, training staff, etc. are just a few of the challenges of starting a small business.

As a full-service catering company located in Northern Arizona, Wil’s Grill focuses on being adaptable and creative no matter the location of the event. From the rim of the Grand Canyon to the forest roads and off-grid venues of Flagstaff, Wil’s Grill’s motto is “Have Grill, Will Travel.”

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Passion. If you don’t have passion for what you do, don’t do it! Persistence and patience are also keys to success- don’t let a slow start get you down. Be creative, network with your community and find a way to better serve that community.
