Inspiring Conversations with Jenna Mara of Tiny Blooms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Mara.

Hi Jenna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had been teaching in the valley for five years when I got pregnant with my son. I hadn’t considered doula work until I was trying to figure out whether I would go back to work or not. I wanted to be able to stay home and could not do that with teaching. My husband suggested I should do something in the birth world because I am very passionate about all things birth, but I don’t think I’m suited to do the medical things a midwife may do. And so begins my doula journey! I had put it in the back of my mind for awhile and wasn’t actively pursuing anything when Karen Welton with Pain Free Birth posted on Instagram that she was offering a doula course. It was exactly what I needed! I joined her course, created Tiny Blooms, and here we are! I will be finishing her course at the end of May and am gearing up to attend my first birth in the next few weeks. Very excited to serve women in the Phoenix area and welcome their babies alongside them!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, I have not faced a ton of “struggle” per say. Finding clients is a slow burn, as I mostly gain interest from word of mouth, but I don’t think that has been challenging because I expected it!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I provide birth and postpartum services to pregnant and postpartum women. When you hire me, will see you for a few prenatals before birth discussing your birth preferences, education for both woman and birth partner about labor, and many other things. I attend the birth, providing comfort measures, and stay for as long as you need afterward. I will also always have a postpartum visit, but can come more if the client chooses my postpartum package.

I think what sets me apart from others is my offering of a date night package! I will come to my client’s house and watch their little one and give them a few hours alone, quality time with your partner is essential postpartum!

I am proud of everything about this brand! I created Tiny Blooms with the intent of helping women in childbirth, and that’s exactly what I’m doing! I think I have made it easy for people to contact me through my client inquiry form on my instagram page (@tinyblooms2), and am proud of myself for creating this.

I want readers to know that when you hire me, you’re hiring me for both you and your partner. The birth partner is essential in labor and a doula is not a replacement for a spouse, boyfriend, etc. I am there to help prepare both moms and partners to be their own best advocate and give them the skills needed to go through labor together. Of course I am there, but ideally I want to give enough support during prenatals that I am no longer needed! The student becomes the master so to speak. That is my goal, and I hope I can convey that to readers and clients alike.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can support me by following @tinyblooms2 on Instagram and sharing my work with pregnant women they know! If you are looking for a doula and want to get in touch, you can fill out my client inquiry form on my Instagram page or email me at tinyblooms2@gmail.com.
