Hi Janay, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My journey as a hairstylist started at a young age when I would experiment on my family’s hair, much to their delight. By the time I turned 18, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the beauty industry. I decided to enroll in a cosmetology program and obtained my license.

However, it wasn’t until I became a young mother that I truly realized the importance of my passion. As a single parent, I faced many challenges trying to balance my career with motherhood. But, through perseverance and hard work, I was able to establish myself as a reputable stylist in my community.

Over the past 10 years, I have honed my skills and continued to educate myself on the latest trends and techniques in the industry. I have worked in various salons, gaining valuable experience and building a loyal clientele along the way.

Today, I am proud to say that I have created a successful business of my own, where I am able to not only showcase my creativity and talent but also empower women by helping them feel confident and beautiful. Being able to use my gifts to make a positive impact on others is truly fulfilling, and I am grateful for the opportunity to do what I love every day.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to becoming a successful stylist has definitely not been smooth for me. As an introvert, stepping into a career that requires me to be primarily extroverted was initially daunting. However, I am grateful to have found a client base that allows me to be authentically myself while also stepping out of my comfort zone when needed.

One of the struggles I faced along the way was underestimating myself due to my introverted nature. I had to overcome my own doubts and insecurities in order to fully embrace my talent and the impact I can have on others. It was a process of giving myself permission to shine and to make a difference in the lives of those I work with.

Another significant challenge on my journey was dealing with my autoimmune disease. I kept this part of my life private, fearing that it would hold me back or limit my potential. However, through the support of my clients and the motivation to inspire others to embrace their own beauty, I have found the strength to rise above my fears and continue pursuing my passion.

In the end, every struggle and obstacle I faced only made me stronger and more determined to succeed. I am grateful for the challenges that have shaped me into the stylist I am today, and I am confident in my ability to continue making a positive impact in the lives of those around me.

As a hair stylist and care specialist, my passion lies in creating a welcoming sanctuary for my clients, where they can feel nurtured and cared for. I take pride in educating my clients on proper hair care and maintenance and building lasting relationships based on trust and mutual respect.

I am dedicated to providing a safe and positive environment for all those who sit in my chair, and I am committed to delivering the highest quality service with a warm and professional touch.
