Hi Giselle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Diosa Candela Botanica (botanical flame goddess)was transmuted into the physical realm through my alchemizing power to turn my eczema inflicted skin into an exploratory journey towards holistic wellness through the trinity of my auric field: the mind, body, and spirit. The skin is the canvas of the human avatar that manifests all internal dis-ease, that at the source, is a sign of spiritual disharmony. My personal testimony to initiate the healing of my spirit, catapulted my desire to become my own curandera (healer). The intensity of my eczema flares was amplified once I discontinued use of topical steroids and experienced TSW (topical steroid withdrawal). The pharmaceutical industry presented me it’s true nature how allopathy band aids an ailment, amplifies dis-ease, and doesn’t seek the true root cause of dis-ease. My own wounded healer journey through my eczema and TSW activated the passion within me to guide others to the curandera (healer) within themselves through somatic touch of the face. We store our memories, our emotions, our thought processes, and our trauma in our face. Facial massage is a medium to support the healing of skin conditions is deeper than beauty in the treatment room; its a form of lymphatic drainage to somatically transmute what no longer serves us to surface the natural glow within our skin and body’s ability to heal it’s self. Furthermore, I’m devoted to my craft to align with other holistic wellness practitioners and healers that I can refer to my clients to understand the holistic lens of optimal wellness and skin health.

In the midst of the initial stages of the COVID pandemic, I stumbled upon Danna Omari’s instagram page and discovered facial massage and the concept of a holistic esthetician. The wisdom of the saying, life coming full circle, came in that moment when I saw her energetically providing facial massages, and the memory of my Tata Sal saying to me as I was massaging his hand before he transitioned, “Mija, you should be a massage therapist.” The benevolent ancestors always guide us back to our passion and purpose.

Diosa Candela Botanica was conceived through the thoughtful intention I have curated for my clients to feel like the passionate goddess within their natural beauty being enhanced through botanical ingredients, facial massage, and to ignite the healer within. Connecting back to self holistically, the land, the benevolent ancestors, and God’s presence within our soul.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As the wounded healer, the continuum of dealing with the flares up of my own dis-ease, starting over in my 30’s, and the late bloom into my purpose has been the ebb and flow through my entrepreneurial journey. My holistic facial spa business is self funded by my full time job. The sacrifices, the fatigue, and consistent self pep talk to continue persevere through this build out phase have tested my spirit, but has enhanced my self development. Entrepreneurism is a mirror to whether or not your doing the work to evolve. It’s a spiritual journey testing your faith in self, and understanding that the frequency you transmute is the frequency you’ll receive. It forces you to be disciplined, consistent, and to become a master of your craft. Especially as a service provider, since we are emitting healing energy, we must ensure our vessel is in an optimal state in mind, body, and spirit.

Diosa Candela Botanica is a holistic facial spa where I am the holistic esthetician with the intention of curating a healing energetic field for my clients to attune themselves to the curandera (healer) within through botanical facials. With the fusion of farm to skin skincare from Laurel Skin and facial massage, I use the healing powers of touch moving the lymph fluid in the face with lympathic drainage to achieve a natural approach to the vitality of the skin for both women and men. I am present in my client’s journey to be grounded in their earthly temple.

I use the traditional Chinese face mapping to guide my clients to decode the imbalances in the organ systems that need nourishment to enhance the skin health. I emphasize the importance of the skin barrier and the gut-skin axis connection is quintessential to the vibrancy and health of our skin. The invasive routes of compromising the integrity of the skin barrier through treatments such as microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, chemical peels, and advanced exfoliants are having facial clients seeking a holistic and natural alternative. Additionally, the lack of thorough research of the long term effects of fillers and botox as well as the increasing data of severe adverse affects is prompting a holistic option such as facial massage for clients to heal their relationship with the aging process and the rituals of facial massage as a tool for enhanced skin health.

Intertwining a holistic health network of body workers, wellness practitioners and spiritualists to provide to the clients guidance in all facets of wellness is what I am most proud of my brand allowing the abundance to flow to all the healers with integrity and heart. Understanding the energetic body and energetic transference to serve as a healing wand to transmute client’s blockages, transmute pain, and provide connection with a healing touch.
