Inspiring Conversations with Ellysse Opris of Florala Studio

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ellysse Opris and Ainsley Moscal.

Ellysse Opris

Hi Ellysse, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My sister (Ainsley Moscal) and (Ellysse Opris) I were always creative/art-minded girls. We love color, fashion, interior design, and, of course, flowers. We always made floral arrangements for family events and parties, so we decided we should try to do this as a business. We created an Instagram account and started building a portfolio of our past events.

Florala Studio was featured on several wedding platforms for a year, and from there, our business took off. We have had so much fun designing and planning all types of events. We are so blessed to do our job as if it was a hobby. We say, “It’s not even working for us.” After three years of hard work and many beautiful events, we are so grateful for where we have come to.

Arizona has been our hub for weddings, including many of the luxury Scottsdale resorts (which are beautiful). However, we have booked weddings in many different states, including California, Washington, Florida, and Chicago. We also had our first European wedding, which was amazing!

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Throughout these couple of years, I can say the 2 things we struggle with the most are figuring out our pricing and learning how to get clients/book weddings. I think everyone struggles with this at first and it is something that really molded our business into what we are today. Starting as a fresh floral designer in the wedding industry, we were intimidated at first. Not many florists are transparent with pricing.

We also didn’t know our worth or how much time arranging flowers took. However, once we gained more experience, we really got Florala Studio on its feet and it took off. In regards to booking weddings – as a new business, we had to get our name out there. We didn’t have a large amount of funds for marketing, so we needed to “DIY it.”

I studied a little bit of marketing and was already very proficient in social media, so we put our company on different platforms and spent time on Instagram to showcase our portfolio. This helped us in more ways than imaginable! We now receive 60% of our inquiries through Instagram and lots by word of mouth.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are luxury event planners and florists. We service mainly Arizona but are now available for bookings in the US and Europe. We specialize in event design and floristry – essentially taking your event to the next level.

What sets us apart from others is that we are a sister duo that works to personalize your event. We know Instagram and Pinterest have beautiful inspirational photos of things our clients might want – but each event needs to be individual – to reflect the personality of our clients. So, we try to take those and make a bespoke event.

Are any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
We are fond of Instagram and Pinterest. There is so much content we get to use as a reference. Canva has been a lifesaver in making the proposals we send to our clients.

There are many beautiful accounts that we follow to keep us inspired. We are also travelers, so we try to take inspiration from countries we visit throughout the year regarding design.
