Inspiring Conversations with Christy George of Bronzmopolitan Spray Tan Bar

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Christy George.

Hi Christy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised right here in sunny Phoenix and have always been a green tea sippin’, bikini wearin’, sunbathing every chance I got, kinda gal! While being an Arizona native, I learned early on how unforgiving the harsh UV rays from the sun can be to your skin.

My love affair with golden skin started in high school when I worked at a local tanning salon. After high school, I went on to receive my license in esthetics and train in airbrush tanning.

Thus, I began a deeper love of not only golden skin but also getting a glowing tan the healthy way. The sun does not discriminate, and once I experienced melanoma through a loved one, I knew I was destined to help people feel their most beautiful, confident selves, but more importantly, help them keep themselves safe from the searing sun.​

In 2018, after 15+ years in all aspects of the beauty industry, I began my search for the perfect place that would allow me to do what I loved most: educate + interact with incredible clients all the while helping them feel the absolute most confident in their skin. Boom. There was Bronzmopolitan.

The previous owner of Bronzmopolitan, Bethany, was so awesome. She had such a wealth of knowledge that when I started working here as a Spray Tan Artist, I soaked up every ounce of information she provided. I knew that this was not just going to be a new temporary position at the company. I knew this was where I was destined to be.

Fast forward to the end of 2019, and I am so happy to announce that my husband and I are the new owners here at Bronzmopolitan Spray Tan Bar!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The most challenging part of taking over ownership of Bronzmo would be the pandemic. We did not even consider a pandemic as something to consider.

We took over in October 2019, and by March 2020, we were completely shut down. It was absolutely terrifying. The faith that everything would work out exactly how it is supposed to carry us through. Faith over fear saved us and our business within such a short time of ownership.

As you know, we’re big fans of Bronzmopolitan Spray Tan Bar. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with the brand?
At Bronzmopolitan we offer our Custom Heated Airbrush tans which is completely personalized to each individual clients needs.

When you arrive, you & your spray tan artist will be decide which customization’s will be best for you based on your skin tone, event/occasion & desired look. Not only do we offer HEATED airbrush tans for a more comfortable service, you also get a complimentary alcoholic beverage with every tan! Happy hour is every hour at Bronzmo!

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have many wonderful childhood memories; one that sticks out right now as my favorite is going to my grandparents’ candy shop in Downtown Phoenix. Sometimes, my sister and I would go with them to get all the goodies for their store. We would help them prepare all the snacks for the few days ahead and stock the shelves. Then, they would hand us a brown paper bag and let us “shop.”

We would walk around the store, filling our bags with sweet treats and the biggest smiles on our faces! Leaving with our candy necklaces and skipping around, we got to help at their shop, and it felt so good! Hanging with my grandparents in their shop was so exciting. Sitting on my grandpa’s lap while he chatted it up and checking his loyal customers in and out was so fun.

Then, my grandma greeted customers with a warm smile and infectious energy that everyone loved. Learning about her customers’ days in such a selfless way was mesmerizing to watch. I think this is where I got that entrepreneurial side from!
