Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry. I went straight to cosmetology school right after high school. In 2008 I was introduced to Ayurveda, The Knowledge of Life. Aveda salons incorporate this ancient holistic healing practice while centering on beauty and wellness.
Learning for the first time how our entire body is truly connected, mind, body and spirit; and also how the beauty industry can truly be a healing place, planted a seed inside of me.
I continued on my journey of a couple different beauty industry jobs, while also working on my own spiritual growth as well.
I learned leadership skills as a shop educator, marketing and communication skills as a brand representative, and enhanced my product knowledge of different ingredients via advanced education.
Spiritually I connected with myself through meditation, tarot cards, books, cooking, journaling, astrology, yoga, and connecting with nature and herbal plants.
In August of 2023 I opened up my own studio as a Holistic Esthetician. I combined all my beauty knowledge as well as my spiritual experience to cultivate a truly unique holistic beauty experience.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A huge struggle for me, that’s a bit personal, was balancing the feelings of happiness and excitement for this new adventure, while mourning the new reality my family was facing with my sisters diagnosis.
I became a caregiver for my younger sister for about a year. She is now in the wonderful care of our mom. During that time on top of being a mom to two young girls myself, it really took a toll on me.
I wanted to have a self-care day. Anything, a facial, a massage, a blow dry. Something to make me “feel” better. In more ways than one. I knew I could do all those things, but I wanted someone else to do it. Someone I trusted and who understood me.
My sweet sister inspired my new entrepreneurial endeavor. Combining holistic healing with beauty rituals.
Knowing she helped me to create this beautiful experience for others, and also knowing the reasons for it, have been something I will always struggle with.
