Hi Ashlyn , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated hair school a year and 2 months ago, I started off as a commission stylist at the salon I now own just a year later. I reached out to everyone, gave people discounts if they’d let me do their hair, I practice a lot and got very good at much I do, I then started renting from the same salon because I built my dream clientele, in may the owners of the salon told me they were selling and i’d need a new place to work, in that moment I was stressed and didn’t know what i’d do, after some thinking I decided to buy the salon. We’ve built an amazing team with girls that love to do what they do, along with me teaching them and showing them my techniques and some tips on how to do beautiful hair.!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely no. It took a lot of hard work, follow up with clients, rescheduling, asking people to do their hair. I would follow everyone on my hair instagram account and once they followed me back I would send a dm asking to do their hair and give them 20% off the first time. I did this to over 200 people. I had a lot of people say no, but I also had a lot of people say yes and the experiences I had with the people that said yes I made sure they had the best experience possible so they would come back.

We are a luxury hair salon located in gilbert arizona. I just turned 19 years old in june and I own my own salon with 7 different girls working at 7 different chairs. All our chairs are full. I help the younger girls with my techniques and teach them a bunch of tips and tricks to make them as successful as I am. I specialize in Blonded and Extensions along with any color. All the girls that work here are skilled and love to do what they do. I’m different from other because most people my age don’t care about working already and working hard. I have built a good environment for the clients and for all the employees. We offer any kind of hair service and also are offering 20% off new clients.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Making a good environment for everyone in the room. I’m kind which is what makes clients want to come back and have stylists work here. Having the mindset that I will make it work and we will succeed.
