Hi April, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2021 I decided to make a career change and start selling portable buildings for Five Star Sheds. This created the opportunity to start my own dealership ShedsAZ. I currently have locations in Wickenburg, Morristown and Salome, but Service, the entire state of Arizona with quality sheds and metal buildings. I love that we have creative options like “A” frames and greenhouses. We work with the customers to find the solutions they are looking for. We are looking forward to an awesome 2025.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with any business venture, there are definitely struggles. For example, supply chain issues caused delays in getting sheds out as quickly as we would’ve liked to our customers, and lead to low inventory levels, but we were open and honest with our customers and filled every order.

We have overcome and meet every challenge with positivity, learning and adapting as needed.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about ShedsAZ?
We have been selling sheds in Wickenburg since January 2021. This endeavor originated from our mutual desire to transition from our previous careers—April was managing a trucking company, while Gregg was employed at Apple. Both of us shared the aspiration to establish our own business. We offer a range of products, including portable sheds, garages, greenhouses, and porches constructed of wood, as well as carports, shade structures, RV covers, and metal buildings made from steel. Our services include onsite construction option and the ability to finish out sheds with electrical installations, insulation, walls, and flooring, creating an ideal ready-to-use home office we also offer unique features such as shelving and finishing options that our competitors lack. As a small, Arizona-based business, we provide a personal touch that larger builders cannot match. Our commitment extends beyond the sale; it is the exceptional service we offer post-purchase that truly distinguishes us from the competition.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The advice we would offer to other small businesses is that, while the journey may be challenging, persistent effort and dedication while outperforming your competition will ultimately lead to success. Moreover, the rewards of owning your own business are truly fulfilling.
