Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony.
Hi Anthony, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From Adversity to Creative Entrepreneurship
I grew up in Marlborough, Massachusetts, in a challenging household shaped by my father’s controlling demeanor, which clashed with my creative spirit. With four older sisters and a younger brother I’m close to, my bond with my supportive mother anchored me through tough years. At eight, my family briefly moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona, before returning to Marlborough. At 14, my grandfather’s illness took us to El Dorado Hills, California, where culture shock and peer conflicts left me isolated. Movies and television became my escape, igniting a lifelong passion for storytelling that fuels my dream to produce films and TV shows, either independently or with studios and streaming services.
At 18, desperate for freedom, I sold my car, bought camping gear, and moved to Hawaii, inspired by LOST and a dream of a happier life. Living off-grid was daunting—storms, car breakdowns, and unstable living conditions tested me, but I adapted, learning resilience. Back in California, I worked as a bar-back and busser in Arizona at 20, later enrolling in Scottsdale School of Film and Theater. There, I earned an AAS in Motion Picture Television Production and a film production certificate, diving into filming, editing, and sound design. To avoid Hollywood’s grind, I moved to Austin, Texas, working as an extra and networking while living out of my car and couch-surfing. After not getting the results I wanted in Austin I decided to move to New York City. In New York, I founded Next Stop Studios LLC, producing music videos, fashion ads, and small business promos while driving Lyft and running a private long-distance shuttle service, building connections with clients who believed in my potential and funding my ventures.
During COVID-19, I returned to Arizona, rebranding Next Stop Studios as Golden Cactus Media to align with the local luxury market. I created content for artists like Chloe Wedge, whose upcoming Love Me Love music video showcases my visual storytelling expertise. I also earned an AAS in General Business and a real estate license, blending video production with high-end property marketing. Currently, I’m developing Video Scale Academy, an online course to empower entrepreneurs with affordable video production skills, and pursuing establishing a lavender farm on my property in Concho, Arizona, with a USDA loan. These ventures are steps to build passive income, freeing me to focus on my true passion: producing films and television on my own terms. My journey from adversity to entrepreneurship, supported by my family, reflects my drive to turn challenges into opportunities, positioning me to empower Phoenix’s creative and economic landscape while chasing my cinematic dreams.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overcoming Adversity to Build a Creative Career
My path has been far from smooth, defined by personal and financial hurdles that forged my resilience. Growing up in Marlborough, Massachusetts, I faced a stifling home life under my father’s domineering control, which clashed with my creative spirit. Moving to El Dorado Hills, California, at 14 intensified my isolation, as culture shock and peer conflicts left me struggling to fit in.
At 18, I sought freedom in Hawaii, planning to live off-grid. Harsh realities—storms, falling trees, and red fire ant infestations—forced me to sleep in my car or on beaches, surviving on minimal resources like $1.25 McDonald’s sandwiches and scavenged leftovers from a restaurant that I got a part-time job at. In Austin, Texas, I chased film opportunities while living out of a storage unit, crashing on friends couches, and sleeping in my car. I maintained a professional facade—“laundromat” laundry and gym showers kept me presentable. In New York, I built Next Stop Studios from a cramped art studio, balancing production work with Lyft driving to stay afloat.
These challenges taught me adaptability and perseverance. A fellow filmmaker and friend in New York inspired me to co-found Next Stop Studios, which I later rebranded as Golden Cactus Media in Arizona, tailoring it to the luxury market. Earning two associate degrees and a real estate license, I built a multifaceted career. Each obstacle—from homelessness to financial strain—honed my resourcefulness, enabling me to empower others through video production and initiatives like Video Scale Academy, where I teach entrepreneurs to create impactful content.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The Future of Video Production: Innovation Meets Authenticity
Over the next 5-10 years, the video production industry will transform, driven by technological advancements and shifting consumer preferences. Mobile-first content will dominate, with platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels fueling demand for short-form, authentic videos. Businesses will require high-quality, smartphone-optimized content, a need I’m addressing through Video Scale Academy, teaching entrepreneurs to create professional videos with accessible tools. AI will streamline editing, generate visuals, and personalize content, but human storytelling will remain vital for emotional resonance.
Immersive formats like 360-degree videos and augmented reality (AR) will grow, particularly in real estate and experiential marketing, where Golden Cactus Media already excels with cinematic property showcases. Consumers will prioritize authentic, values-driven content, pushing brands to embrace transparent narratives. Live streaming and interactive video will surge, enhancing real-time engagement for events and e-commerce.
Sustainability will become a priority, with eco-conscious production practices gaining traction. Remote collaboration tools will enable global teams, reducing costs and expanding talent access. As a Phoenix-based producer, I see Golden Cactus Media thriving by blending cutting-edge technology
