Inspiring Conversations with Anesa Kratovac of Detox With Anesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anesa Kratovac

Anesa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My path to where I am today has been anything but predictable, smooth, or easy. It’s what you call a path of exploration and uncertainty that led to a breakthrough due to following opportunities and intuitive curiosities. If there was no confusion, there would have been no adventure, no struggle, no growing self-awareness, and no openness to learning and setting on an unconventional path.

Thankfully, I had always been very independent and had a mind of my own. I think that helped me get out of the notion that I had to live in a conventional way and propelled me to take on adventurous risks that most people wouldn’t. And, despite the romanticism of this “less conventional path,” and a strong desire to be open to where life was to take me creatively and service-wise, it was a very difficult journey in many ways.

The market crash of 2008 rewarded those that were already stable in a career or a job. But at that time, I was a few years out of college teaching English in Prague (I spent a few years of my childhood in the Czech Republic and wanted to revisit the country as an adult) and had plans to come back to the U.S. and continue a career in the non-profit/civil service sector. It was a very difficult time finding the right open door but it taught me resourcefulness, thinking on my feet, creative problem-solving, the ability to widen my window of possibilities, and to not be afraid to reinvent myself.

In a nutshell, I’ve had many “careers” in my 20s and 30s, starting out with being a paralegal right out of college, a fundraiser for nonprofits, an English preschool teacher, a humanitarian, a writer, a digital marketer, a wellness practitioner, and now, a small business owner.

Truth be told, I always wanted to create and be of service to humanity. I was very drawn to entrepreneurship since I was young, and so it was only natural that after all my searching, then my bouts with chronic health issues in my late 20s, and immersion into holistic healing for years afterwards, that all of those passions would converge into what I do today. Looking back, I realize that I was never really meant for conventional work and my persistent search for belonging when I was younger was a wounded need to force myself to fit into a standard that didn’t feel natural to me.

Healing from my chronic health issues was not only a process of physical transformation but also of self-understanding and empowerment. Most of all, it was a process of shedding old coping mechanisms and unmet needs for the opportunity to invest in myself energetically. Healing is never easy. It is a process of dismantling and putting together…of letting go of survival (that’s all I learned to do in childhood) to build a foundation for thriving. It took isolation and letting go of the old as well as looking at the shadow self and becoming friends with it. It is the most rewarding journey of transformation we can take in this lifetime.

That is why I really wanted to show others that healing is possible. I understand the mechanisms of holistic healing and wanted to help others heal through detoxification (this is the easiest place to start the transformation process). It took years of learning and helping others to take the leap professionally and start my journey as a healer (detox specialist). I was confident that I could help many people, and given all my prior work adventures and insights into human condition, that I was capable of connecting to others in a way that is authentic to me and beneficial to them.

That’s how I started Red Grape Wisdom (now Detox With Anesa) in 2021. I began writing blogs about detailed naturopathic knowledge that were very different from anything that was out there, which was usually mainstream and generic. And then, after a year and half, I expanded my presence on social media.

I am still discovering what works and doesn’t and how to grow my business sustainably. I’m also working with a business coach and learning a lot as I go along. The hardest thing is having to be a knowledge expert in your field but also have a high caliber of experience in marketing and business, so seeking out help is very important!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not! I don’t think any business journey has been smooth for anyone. It is all about trying different things and seeing what works. On a solopreneurial journey, you have to be very risk averse and have great personal resilience…and patience.

Success is more about the strength of character rather than about doing all the right things. You have to have a delayed sense of gratification, you have to put in the hard work without seeing results for some time (even if it takes years of trial and error), and you have to be willing to pivot and change your trajectory. The silver lining IS the desire to see your vision come to life.

Some of the biggest struggles I faced are trying to do everything alone and trying to be creative with my strategy without knowing that what has been done and is successful is the way to go when you’re looking to put your systems in order. Basically, don’t try to reinvent the wheel but do what is proven to work and then add your creative spin to the business once there is traction.

Although I wish I had help from the beginning, I think having to do it myself and learn from all my mistakes made me more skilled and understanding of all the facets of running a solo business.

As you know, we’re big fans of Detox With Anesa. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Detox With Anesa is a body detoxification education and coaching service that I founded in 2021 with over 7 years of experience learning about and healing with holistic wellness knowledge (primarily body detoxification). My protocols focus on using alkaline foods, herbs, and other natural modalities to help support the body’s detoxification pathways. I believe that detoxification is a transformational experience that helps the body get rid of its acidic waste, energize, and self-heal physically, which also elevates the function of the mental and emotional bodies.

My business centers around the pain point that most natural health advice is scattered, conflicting, and often-times sugar-coated so that it can appeal to masses seeking quick solutions to healing.

My antidote is to provide the truth of what it takes to get the body healthy through the lens of naturopathy, bioenergetics, herbalism, and food chemistry. It simplifies the whole process by teaching individuals about how the body works, why detoxification and the alkaline diet is essential to healing, and how herbs and other modalities elevate cellular function and strengthen the body’s waste elimination system.

I package this knowledge into helpful and actionable guides, courses, and 1-1 coaching opportunities. I have various products that can help everyone looking to heal naturally – those on a budget as well as those willing to get the help they need every step of the way.

Although there are a lot of educational guides and courses out there, what makes my products different is that they are not generic and are constructed from thorough knowledge or body detoxification and personal experience working with clients. They are not meant for those looking for “cosmetic,” feel-good, immediate objectives but rather for those looking to commit to healing and willing to do the hard work.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Yes, I see the health industry (specifically the detoxification niche) shifting from quick fads to personalized health solutions that are customized and that are based on educating clients about their bodies.

I also see the industry prioritizing holistic solutions that emphasize the need for physical, emotional, and mental health. That looks like the rise of coaches and specialists that are versed in one specialized area of health but also understand how it connects to other parts of one’s wellness.

Supplements and protein powders are currently at an all-time popularity high, but I can’t wait to see the market shift to reward healers that truly want to make a difference through knowledge and guidance over companies that are getting wealthy from impersonalized, quick solutions…and oftentimes misleading marketing.
