Inspiring Conversations with Amanda Budd of Budd’s Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Budd.

Hi Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story begins back in 2013 as a teen who was obsessed with all things beauty, fashion and lifestyle. I started a YouTube channel where I filmed videos about my go-to outfits, favorite makeup looks and trending hairstyles while vlogging my daily life. Fast forward to 2015 when I graduated high school and began my college journey. At this point, I had no idea what my future looked like. All I knew was that I wanted to own my own business, be my own boss and create my own dream life. I decided to study Business Leadership to help determine if this would be my passion and path in life. I loved learning all things about owning a business, creating a business plan and sustaining it. During this time, I hadn’t realized my future would be in Aesthetics, but I did have a passion for dental care. I decided to continue my classes and enroll in dental program. Once I graduated, I worked as a dental assistant for almost 2 years until I had a seizure at work. The doctors never figured out what caused it, but their best guess was stress-induced. This was a turning point in my life and career as I had a moment with God during that seizure and had a strong feeling to chase my dreams and take the risk. I had always been so passionate with beauty and lifestyle that I decided to find a way to make myself a career with it. A friend of mine was doing my lash extensions at the time and I asked her how she started her own business doing it. She said I needed a License as an Aesthetician and offered to train me personally in lash extensions. I took her course, fell in love with lashing and signed up for the Aesthetics Program at my college. I still graduated with my AA in Business Leadership, went on to finish the Aesthetics Program and received my License in October 2019. I immediately created my business: Budd’s Beauty, rented out my own salon space and started taking clients! Fast forward to 2025, my business is still growing and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not! Owning a business is so rewarding, but comes with its fair share of challenges! The biggest struggle I’ve faced so far is relocating my business from California to Arizona. In 2020, we all know what went down: Covid. My business got shut down for a couple months and in that time my soon-to-be husband and I decided that we wanted to move to Arizona. We wanted a fresh start, we have some family out here and love vacationing here, so we gave it a shot! Within a year of opening my business in California, I was able to create a steady, loyal clientele and my books were full for months out! That became normal for me and when we decided to move to AZ, I assumed regaining a clientele would be a piece of cake. Reality check: it wasn’t! I barely knew a soul here so I had to really market and promote myself and my business to get my name out there and let people know I exist. I focused a lot on social media marketing, word of mouth and referral programs to reward my clients. I stayed authentic, genuine and showed people I’m here to make a difference in their lives with my services! I’m happy to say I’ve been blessed with amazing clients out here and currently doing business in Gilbert, AZ!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Budd’s Beauty, I specialize in Corrective & Preventive Skincare Treatments. I am a Dermalogica Expert and one of my biggest achievements in my career so far is being recognized by Dermalogica Pro as one of their PST Brand Ambassadors! In 2018, I was introduced to the skincare brand at school. I genuinely fell in love with the products and the company’s mission, that I used it myself consistently and opened an account for my business when I started my business in 2019. Being an ambassador allows me to connect with other students and skin therapists globally through social media and test product innovations and give feedback before they’re launched. I also offer lash and brow enhancements such as lash lifts, lash extensions, brow lamination, waxing & tinting. I love working on the face and helping my clients achieve a low maintenance routine with low maintenance services. The most subtle enhancements can make the biggest differences!

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Outside of work, one of my biggest hobbies is making minis. One of my best friends introduced me to these miniature crafts and I’ve become obsessed! I’ve made mini creations of things like food, furniture, plants, animals, scenes from movies and more. I have a whole collection now that’s taken over our living room!
