Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Galperin.
Hi Alice, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
After losing my job in 2020 due to the pandemic, I had the opportunity to focus on my passions and explore new talents. I was living with my ex-boyfriend (Sam Kauffman) in Toronto. We ended up being stuck at my parent’s place in Vancouver.
As a frustrated consumer, I could never seem to find a brow product that was natural but also could last all day. I invented the first-ever 100% natural color water-based brow gel in my kitchen. From there, Sam encouraged me to face my fears and start building the company of my dreams. I started the company with my co-founder and best friend, Martyne Alphonso.
She’s an incredible writer and a great COO. She’s been the powerhouse behind bringing the vision to life. Martyne and I started the company in 2020 and have been able to launch in 2021 successfully. We have partnered with Urban Outfitters and are growing rapidly within the Vancouver Community.
We have some exciting new products and partnerships that we will be working on within the coming years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth and continues to throw challenges our way.
Martyne and I worked tirelessly together for the first year, self-teaching ourselves part of the business that we did not know before. We have also had tons of help along the way from family and friends, including my dear friend Miranda Hannon, our head graphic designer.
Miranda designed our logo and packaging. It is only the beginning of our journey, and Martyne and I continue to defy many odds and remain positive. The vision is clear, and we are excited to continue to grow it!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are the clean brow beauty company with a mission to bring the clean beauty movement to the people. Tinty started when co-founder Alice Galperin struggled to find eyebrow-specific cosmetics that were all-natural and vegan. She was sick and tired of ingredient lists she couldn’t pronounce and prices she couldn’t afford.
That’s when she started cooking something up quite literally, in her kitchen. Tinty believes everyone has the right to know exactly what goes into the products they use. We are proudly against greenwashing because clean beauty is so much more than just a fad. Why can’t natural also be fun?
Tinty is the modern revival of the 1970s environmental activism movement and strives toward eco-conscious beauty industry standards today. We innovate naturally to deliver products that accentuate the unique features that make you beautiful.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
It’s never a solo journey, and to have success in bringing your vision to life, you have to find like-minded people to become a part of your dream.
