Inspiring Conversations with Abby Fenzel of Copper Blossom Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Fenzel.

Hi Abby, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story? 
I started in the wedding industry when I was 18, working for San Diego Style Weddings, and fell in love with the details that come with wedding planning. From the gorgeous flowers to the unique touches styled by each couple to being able to relieve stress for folks on a very important day in their lives, I was sold. I worked for San Diego Style Weddings for 8 years. 

A couple of friends asked me to help plan their weddings and I was honored and so excited. With these opportunities, I gave them my all, and after some encouragement from friends and family, I decided to hang out my shingle as a wedding & event planner! 

Over the last two years, I’ve had the opportunity to do events all over Arizona, from Phoenix & Tucson to Northern Arizona in Sedona, Flagstaff, Show Low & Strawberry. I’ve also been fortunate to do weddings in Colorado, North Carolina, and Utah! Every wedding has had its own unique set of challenges to work through, but every wedding I do, I learn more and more to take with me into the next one. 

In addition to weddings, I have planned corporate events for the last 7 years, from a Christmas party for 30 people to a corporate party for 1500+ employees to a corporate weekend retreat for 200 people in Sedona. There are so many fabulous events just waiting for a little love and guidance in the Phoenix metro area, it’s an honor to get to be a part of them! 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I consider myself a lifelong learner and walk away with at least 1 new idea/process/tip that I can implement for every event moving forward. Whether it’s having a cutoff date for how close to the event you can add more decor, to making sure I know any family dynamics involved, each event is a learning lesson to continue growing to be the best event planner I can be!

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I’ve been fortunate to travel to Europe with my Nana many times over my childhood. These trips to new countries with their unique cultures, cuisines, and experiences to be had are something I cherish dearly. My Nana has always encouraged me to explore the world and gave the advice, “There are two things in this world that no one can take from you. Your education and your experiences.” This advice has followed me through my life and has led to some truly memorable experiences.
