Inspiring Conversations with Valerie Farfan of In the Valley of the Sun

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Farfan.

Hi Valerie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After working full time in retail for 12 years I started a new job as a full time mom four years ago. Although, it is wonderful to be a stay at home mom it is a lot of work and can get lonely. I decided I needed to have a space where I could be creative and connect with others. I created In the Valley of the Sun instagram page. I being an Arizona native love to learn and support Arizona businesses I wanted to share those businesses with others. I now am a full time stay at home mom with two girls ages four and two and a small business that highlights one local Arizona business every Monday.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For me when my girls were babies, it was hard to find time to get content and post. A lot of time I didn’t have time, but I always tried to share my experiences when I could. As they have gotten older it has allowed a little more time to post more consistently on my page and commit more time to growing my business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business In the Valley of the Sun shares local Arizona businesses, and spotlights 1 local Arizona business every week. In the Valley of the Sun is a place that local business products/services can be shared. The majority of my followers are located in the metro Phoenix area. I try hard to delete spam accounts to make sure that real people are seeing the page. I genuinely love Arizona and Arizona local businesses, I’m so happy to have a platform to share amazing businesses with others. If you have a local business and want your business to be featured you can DM or Email me. Also, we do giveaways featuring local businesses every two weeks if you would like to be a part of that please DM or Email me as well.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Growing up in Arizona I loved the community that we had around our neighborhood, schools and church. Almost every week after church, that was located near Downtown Mesa my family and I would go eat at a local Downtown Mesa restaurant. I loved that I could always get my favorite foods and treats close by and by people/families that we personally knew.
