Inspiring Conversations with Jamison Manwaring of Neighborhood Ventures

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamison Manwaring.

Hi Jamison, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Moved to NYC after college to work on Wall street as an equity analyst for Goldman Sachs. Moved to the valley in 2015 to run investor relations for LifeLock. After LifeLock was sold in 2017, I cofounded Neighborhood Ventures, a real estate crowdfunding company, to give more people the ability to invest in commercial real estate projects.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
First project took six months to fundraise. Potential investors have a significant learning curve and each of our projects needs a large group of investors (100-200) in order to successfully fund.

As you know, we’re big fans of Neighborhood Ventures. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We now have over 700 investors and have successfully funded six projects. One project has sold and investors were paid their 12% returns. Two others will sell soon.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Get a co-founder that compliments your weaknesses. Find a way to survive financially while the business get on its feet. Have a deeper why for starting the company than just financial.
