Today we’d like to introduce you to Walter Washington.
Hi Walter, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in rural life while commuting to the city to attend school, shop, visit the doctor, and more prepare me in ways that I was not aware of until later in life. The rural life taught me how to be humble, hospitable, and honest. These are attributes that I carry with me to this day and instill in my sons and others in my sphere of influence. Furthermore, these characteristics attracted the attention of employers who saw me as an astute and hardworking candidate to consider for employment. From my first job as a bagger at a local grocery store to banking to public service in state government to now a Realtor®, I have been blessed with an array of experience thus allowing me the opportunity to learn and grow into the man that I am today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many who I know, the road traveled has been bumpy with roadblocks, detours, and other unwanted, unfortunate, unforeseeable circumstances. As a believer and follower of Christ, I know that the Lord allows life events to occur that most would not want to happen whatsoever. My biggest challenge is trusting the advice and guidance of those who have traveled the road ahead. All too often along the way, I wasted the advice and guidance from my elders as they warned me about the outcomes, rewards, and consequences of my actions. The younger me was overconfident, prideful, and arrogant, yet I was also apprehensive of the actions of others mostly assuming that their actions were at my demise. Thankfully though, those circumstances chiseled my maturity and allowed me to see the positive worth of the advice and guidance that was made available to me, which gives me a chance to share my testimony with those who have yet traveled the road that I have traversed.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
