Hidden Gems: Meet Trixie Leuck of Hello Duchess

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trixie Leuck.

Hi Trixie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband and I spent years trying to have a child, then years of failed infertility treatments, and finally infant adoption. When we met our babe the day she was born it felt as though everything happened exactly as it was supposed to!

Once we brought her home we had the hardest time finding clothing and unique baby items that aligned with our aesthetic and style. That’s when Hello Duchess was born!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When we first started my husband and I worked full-time jobs and had a brand-new baby. This was a whole new adventure for us. Our top 3 struggles were…

* Being a husband and wife team is awesome but also we needed to figure out what our responsibilities were and where we were best suited. We had ideas of what we wanted our roles to be and it just wasn’t realistic.
* Our product is very specific to newborn babies. For us, word of mouth and shares on social are so beneficial! We may not always get the sale at markets or online, but we keep showing up. We want our customers to know we will be here when they are ready!
* We launched this business knowing we didn’t want to go into any debt. You can get caught up in the comparison game or want everything to happen right now. We have learned to pace ourselves and be intentional about every purchase.

The bumps in the road don’t outweigh the joy of owning a business. We are able to be creative and have something we built from the ground up. It’s the most rewarding feeling!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in baby gifting! We make modern baby boxes that are ready to ship anywhere in the US. Our box is unique as it’s literally made with love! I source and design, while my husband makes all the wood and acrylic products. Our daughter makes sure every package has a sticker…. It’s her favorite part.

We are so proud because a portion of our sales goes back to families looking to fund their adoption. We know how expensive it can be. We are so thankful to be able to give back in a small way.

Right now we make small batches that align with the seasons. We are excited to slowly begin expanding to bigger sizes and offerings!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Our brand is named after our daughter. We call her the Duchess!
