Today we’d like to introduce you to Trisheana Barzar Hunter.
Hi Trisheana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Before the 2nd grade, I had seven brain surgeries and struggled with disabilities. The brain surgeries I had during my elementary years left me learning how to walk, talk and feed myself all over again. I wore a helmet through first grade as part of my skull was missing. I grew up around a lot of domestic violence and trauma.
That, the brain surgeries, and illness caused me to develop PTSD, depression, and anxiety by the age of 8. I didn’t know it then. It was just my normal. I pushed through, graduated high school, and went on to get my Bachelor’s in Marketing and three Master’s Degrees. My Master’s degrees are in Management and in Psychology. In 2014, I was again diagnosed with an AV malformation and would again need brain surgery.
I spent the next six years battling numerous health and personal challenges. This included five more brain surgeries, two strokes, learning to live with a severe and rare form of brain trauma. In 2017, I went into septic shock which took years to heal from. I lost my breast due to the sepsis infection. In 2019, I underwent surgery to heal a brain infection that has an extremely high mortality rate. This also required multiple extremely painful breast reconstruction surgeries to get rid of the deformities and infection left behind after sepsis.
Through everything I was going through, I didn’t have anyone to look to as a compass or guide on how to get through any of what I was experiencing. Finally, I realized I had gone through all of this to be that guiding compass for someone else on their own journey. I became determined to make sure that no matter what people were going through, they had someone relatable to help them navigate through their struggles, put one foot in front of the other, and move mountains of their own.
Moving Mountains Coaching was born from two things:
- My love for hiking and nature.
- My daddy- he was with me for every surgery my entire life. When I wanted to give up, I would call him and he would say “You just got to keep picking em up and putting em down, just put one foot in front of the other.” I wrote a poem called steps in honor of my daddy and my mantra became” If I can climb the mountain, I can move it” My cousin Dr. Kamilya Hunter wrote and recorded a song about my life for me as well called Divine Order.
Today, I live in my purpose as a Certified Transformational Life Coach, Mental Health Coach, Couples and Healthy Sexuality Coach, Podcaster, and Motivational Speaker. I am an ICF Associate Certified Life Coach with Master’s Degrees in Psychology and Industrial-Organizational Psychology as well as Management.
I am the devoted mother of two beautiful daughters who are my constant source of joy strength, and motivation. Raising them alone through all of this wasn’t easy. But together my Queens and I, Kavya now 19, and Divya now 12 made it to the other side by being committed to making progress, remaining humble and devoted to living in our purpose. That purpose was found in helping others move mountains so they can overcome fear, trauma, and struggle to live more empowered and fulfilling lives.
As a Coach, I work closely with individuals who have experienced trauma, crisis, illness, or pain whether physical or emotional. My personalized coaching technique helps people get beyond their struggles and suffering and regain their belief in their own value. I provide a relatable one-on-one coaching experience that empowers clients to discover the best within themselves and begin moving forward with a greater sense of confidence and purpose.
I work closely with couples to help them overcome feelings of rejection, lack of trust, and intimacy and help them effectively communicate and learn to fight fair. My couples become better individuals and gain their own self-worth which improves intimacy and communication in their relationship through improving how they feel about themselves as well as each other.
I have extensive experience working with a diverse group of individuals facing equally diverse challenges including PTSD, sexual insecurities, anxiety, overthinking, low self-esteem, and various forms of trauma and illness. I meet each client where they are and help them overcome fear and doubt in order to live life on their own terms.
As a survivor, I understand how difficult it can be to create positive change while facing tremendous and even unbearable obstacles. But through my own journey, I have learned “Every Mountain Can Be Moved If You are Willing To Take The First Step ™”.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
- Several brain surgeries
- Septic shock.
- Multiple breast reconstructions
- Strokes
- Loss of parents and loved ones
- Personal Mental Health struggle
- Single mom of two girls
- Domestic violence and assault survivor,
- Chronic pain and chronic illness

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I have learned that many of us were not truly aligned with who we are. When the world shut down, we found ourselves stuck inside with someone we barely knew- ourselves. The pandemic taught us the importance of self-love and acceptance for us to live happy and peaceful lives.
We learned through the pandemic, both individually and as part of the human experience that we have work to do. Many people had to face past trauma and mistakes that had been buried or masked by the distractions of the busyness of day-to-day life. The most important relationship we will ever have is the one we have with ourselves. We all deserve to find peace with who we are, where we have been, and hope for where we are going.
We are all deserving of self-compassion, intimacy, and acceptance. It’s important that we allow ourselves the time grace to stop, process, and rest instead of speeding forward pretending that everything is fine when in reality our internal check engine light is on. It’s ok to stop and just be for a moment.
