Hidden Gems: Meet Tee Snyder of Snyder Property Maintenance LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tee Snyder.

Hi Tee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Paradise Valley, Arizona, and from a young age, I was always interested in businesses and how they worked. I watched entrepreneurs around me and became fascinated with the idea of building something from the ground up. I have always been ambitious, but for a long time, I wasn’t sure where to direct that ambition. At one point, I received a piece of advice that really stuck with me: to be an entrepreneur, you don’t have to have some fancy idea or build the next Google/Microsoft. You can start small and “start sweaty,” learning the fundamentals of business through service industries and hands-on work.

During my time at the University of Arizona, I decided to take that advice seriously. I began drafting a business plan and eventually made the decision to complete my degree online while relocating to Scottsdale to launch my exterior maintenance company. I started with very limited capital but a strong determination to learn through trial and error.

What began as a one-man operation gradually turned into a real business. I spent the early days knocking on doors, talking to homeowners, and learning how to sell and deliver a service while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Over time, that grew into Snyder Property Maintenance, which now services both residential clients and large commercial properties across the Scottsdale and Phoenix area. I was able to scale past 6 figures in revenue while being a full time student.

Along the way, I’ve had the chance to hire and train teams, build operational systems, and work on some incredible projects, including newly built luxury homes and large commercial properties. More than anything, the experience has taught me how to solve problems, lead people, take ownership, and the importance of maintaining a cool head through it all.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. Starting a business has been one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done.

I started with $400 of towels, squeegees, buckets, and tools, and had to learn everything in real time. And that took a while. It was long days of doing friends and families’ houses for free, getting frustrated, learning from mistakes, and improving. I was doing everything myself: knocking on doors during the day to find customers and cleaning their houses until dark. I learned how to face rejection, not internalize interactions with rude people, and having doors slammed in my face.

I have dealt with mistakes on jobs, employees stealing company equipment, and mistakes that I made as a leader myself. I learned that being a leader requires me to also be a servant. The more I serve my employees, the more they care about their work. Our company culture is largely built around that idea of serving and loving one another.

The biggest challenge was just learning how to deal with uncertainty. When you start a business, there is no guaranteed paycheck or clear roadmap. Some weeks are great and others are slow. You have to stay disciplined and keep moving forward even when things feel unpredictable. The key is consistency. Warren Buffett once explained this through an inversion, “how to guarantee failure.” His point was that the surest way to fail is to be inconsistent – because even a small amount of consistency over time tends to produce results. That idea stuck with me and is something I’ve applied in my day-to-day life.

The work works more on you than you work on it. You have to be bad at something before you can be good at something. The struggles you face, end up being the most valuable part of the journey because it teaches you that life is not “win or lose”… it’s “win or learn.”

As you know, we’re big fans of Snyder Property Maintenance LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Snyder Property Maintenance is an exterior cleaning and property maintenance company based in the Phoenix area. We specialize in services like window cleaning, pressure washing, solar panel cleaning, and exterior surface restoration for both luxury homes and commercial properties.

What we focus on most is delivering a level of professionalism that people don’t always expect from a home service company. From how we communicate with clients, to how our team shows up on site, to the systems we use behind the scenes, our goal is to make the experience feel organized, respectful, and easy for the homeowner or property manager.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the reputation we’ve built. A lot of our growth has come through word of mouth and repeat clients who trust us with their homes and properties year after year. In an industry that is often transactional, we try to focus on long-term relationships and consistency. I am proud of my team as the brand wouldn’t be a thing without them. I hire young, clean-cut, ambitious guys who want to take risks and experience all that life has to offer. I love to backpack the world, and our company culture largely revolves around that. Being a seasonal business, our summer months are dead. I hire guys who fit our culture and want to travel and get active. I have worked with lots of rock climbers, backpackers, and outdoorsmen. I sit down with each new hire and ask them “what do you want to do next summer?” And help build them a financial plan that makes their summer aspirations come to fruition.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was actually a pretty awkward kid. I moved schools several times and often felt like an outsider, which made me more of a people-pleaser and observer than someone who naturally took the lead. I was always curious, though. I liked watching how people operated, especially in business.

As I got older, especially in college, my personality started to change. My faith became a much more central part of my life, and it gave me a stronger sense of identity and direction. I became more confident, more disciplined, and much more intentional about the kind of person I wanted to become. I’ve always been someone who thinks a lot about growth, strategy, how to improve, how to build something meaningful, and how to take ownership of my life. That mindset, combined with my faith and desire to serve others well, is what ultimately pushed me to start my own business while still in school.
