Hidden Gems: Meet Shelly Chand Kendra Aragon of Bronde Blvd Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelly Chand Kendra Aragon.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
Kendra and I worked together our whole careers. We started at a big salon in chandler and then branched out into our opening of a small salon suite. Together we had three salon suites before we decided to open Bronde Blvd Salon. After ten years and three kids between the two of us, we decided to start a new business endeavor and open our salon! We can’t wait to grow and develop our stylists into amazing artists! We wanted to create a place of our own that was modern, serene, and comfortable for our clients and employees.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a surprisingly smooth road! Together our families did the entire build-out with only a few hiccups along the way! Our space was only the second place we looked at, and our landlord has been supportive and great to work with. It proves we decided to expand when we were ready and in the right place!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Hair is our passion, and it shows on every client that walks out the door! We are a full-service salon that does everything from color to extensions to men’s cuts! We are expanding our brand and launching Bronde Blvd Hair, a line of high-quality, hand-tied hair extensions! We wanted to have a brick & motor store where stylists could come and shop our hair and color match with their clients! Ultimately, our goal is to make our clients feel their best, and that’s what we are most proud of!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
We think all great achievements come with risk; however, I think we have been smart in timing and executing our risk-taking. We learned the business and took baby steps to get here! We were able to open our business (and soon launch our hair line) without any outside financing, which we are incredibly proud of!
