Hidden Gems: Meet Shantoya Thomas of Brighter View Foundation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantoya Thomas.

Shantoya Thomas

Hi Shantoya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I didn’t start out thinking I would one day lead multiple businesses, a nonprofit foundation, and a women’s empowerment network. My path really began with a simple desire: to create spaces where people, especially women, could rise above their circumstances and step into their purpose.

Over the years, I’ve been in roles that exposed me to the gaps in our communities: families without resources, women with powerful stories but no support, and entrepreneurs who were trying to build something meaningful without guidance or strategy. I saw firsthand how much potential was being lost simply because people didn’t have access, systems, or the right support.

That’s what pushed me to start building what is now the Brighter View Life Enrichment Center — a foundation, workforce training programs, enrichment services, events, and community partnerships — all with one mission: to change lives through opportunity, education, and connection.

As the work grew, so did the vision. That’s where The Women 360 came in — a way to bring women together to network, learn, and grow through business development, masterclasses, mentorship, and intentional community. And through Shantoya Nicole LLC Consulting, Business Start-Up Programs and Barrier Breakers Mentoring Program, I get to help entrepreneurs build real strategies, real systems, and real confidence to move from idea to execution.

I didn’t get here overnight. It’s been years of trial, rebuilding, trusting God, and refusing to let setbacks define the outcome. Every challenge became a classroom. Every win became confirmation.

Today, I’m proud to stand where I am — not because the journey was perfect, but because it was purposeful. And now I help others do the same: rise, rebuild, and create success with intention and strategy.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not — and honestly, I’m grateful for that.

My journey has been full of detours, closed doors, and moments that forced me to grow in ways I never expected. There were seasons where resources were limited, support was scarce, and I was carrying responsibilities that felt far bigger than my capacity. Building programs, launching businesses, and creating community spaces while navigating my own personal challenges required a level of resilience I had to learn on the way.

One of the biggest struggles was simply being a woman with a vision that didn’t fit the box other people tried to place me in. I had to push past doubt — my own and others’ , and stay committed even when the path wasn’t clear. Another challenge was learning to operate in excellence while building from scratch: creating systems, securing funding, growing teams, and making decisions that impact real people and real families.

There were moments of burnout, moments where doors closed that I thought were meant for me, and moments where I had to rebuild what I thought was already solid. But every struggle taught me something: how to lead with intention, how to trust timing, how to show up even when it’s hard, and how to keep moving when the next step feels uncertain.

What I’ve learned is that the road was never meant to be smooth…it was meant to shape me. Every obstacle strengthened my purpose. Every setback redirected me. And every challenge prepared me to guide and support others with compassion, strategy, and lived experience.

The road wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. And that’s why the work I do today holds so much meaning.

We’ve been impressed with Brighter View Foundation, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has played a role — but not in the way people usually think.

I don’t really look at my journey as “good luck” or “bad luck.” I look at it as alignment, timing, and purpose. There have absolutely been seasons that felt like bad luck — plans falling apart, unexpected setbacks, partnerships that didn’t work out, and moments where the road ahead felt unclear. Those times were hard, but they ended up being some of the most important turning points in my life and business.

Every obstacle pushed me to grow.
Every delay redirected me.
Every “no” made room for something better.

If I had to call it anything, I’d say I’ve had purposeful luck — the kind that doesn’t always feel good, but always leads me where I’m supposed to go.

On the flip side, I’ve also experienced what looks like good luck: the right people showing up at the right time, doors opening unexpectedly, new opportunities arising just when I needed them. But I believe those moments come because of two things:

Preparation — doing the work even when no one is watching

Faith & resilience — refusing to quit when it gets hard

When preparation meets opportunity, people call it luck.
But to me, it’s God’s timing and the result of showing up consistently.

So yes — luck has been there, both good and bad. But neither one has defined my path. What has defined it is how I responded: by choosing to learn, choosing to rebuild, and choosing to keep moving forward with purpose.

That’s the “luck” that built Brighter View and everything I’m doing today.
