Today we’d like to introduce you to Salisha Rigsbee.
Hi Salisha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey started not in a fancy office or a courtroom, but in a public library. I’m a business attorney today, but I began by simply wanting to help entrepreneurs who didn’t know where to start. I saw brilliant people with powerful ideas struggling because they didn’t understand the legal side of building a business. So I started small, offering free workshops at the local library, teaching people how to protect their brands, form their businesses properly, and avoid common legal pitfalls.
What began as a passion project quickly became a calling. Word spread, demand grew, and from those humble beginnings, The Rigsbee Law Firm was born. I built this firm from an idea and a passion. No investors, no blueprint, just a deep belief that entrepreneurs deserve legal support that empowers them, not intimidates them.
Today, I run a law firm that stands on purpose. We’re known for providing accessible, relatable legal guidance to business owners who are building legacy from scratch, just like I did.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. If anything, it’s been paved with challenges, setbacks, and lessons that shaped me into the attorney and businesswoman I am today.
Starting out, I didn’t have a big budget, a business coach, or a team. I had a vision and a whole lot of faith. I was offering free classes while working long hours, trying to make ends meet and still show up for my community. There were moments of doubt, times when I questioned if people would take me seriously, especially as a Black woman trying to break through in the legal and business space.
I had to learn how to navigate not just the law, but entrepreneurship itself. Marketing, branding, building systems, and balancing client needs with my own capacity. There were nights I cried from exhaustion, wondering if it would ever be “worth it.” But every obstacle taught me something. Every client success reminded me why I started, and it was the only thing that kept me going.
The truth is, the road wasn’t smooth, but it was necessary. And I wouldn’t change a thing. It made the wins mean more and the mission even clearer and this year we are celebrating 5 years in business and ready to impact more entrepreneurs.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Rigsbee Law Firm is a boutique law firm that focuses on helping entrepreneurs protect what they’re building, from their brands to their businesses. We specialize in business law, intellectual property, trademarks, contracts, and overall legal strategy for small business owners, startups, and content creators. Our mission is simple: make legal protection accessible, understandable, and empowering, especially for women and minority-owned businesses who are often overlooked in this space.
What sets us apart is our approach. We don’t just throw legal jargon at you, we break it down, walk you through it, and make sure you feel confident about every legal decision you’re making. Our clients know us for being relatable, resourceful, and rooted in purpose. We’re not here to gatekeep legal knowledge, we’re here to arm entrepreneurs with it.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the fact that our firm doesn’t feel like a law firm in the traditional sense, it feels like a partner. We care about our clients’ businesses as much as they do. We show up in courtrooms and classrooms, boardrooms and branding calls. Our services include federal trademark registration, contract drafting and review, business formation, and legal consulting, all designed to help entrepreneurs build with protection, clarity, and confidence.
If you’re starting, scaling, or securing your business, we’re the law firm built for you. We’re here to make sure that what you’re building lasts.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are several ways to work with, collaborate with, or support The Rigsbee Law Firm

And finally, you can support our mission by referring other business owners our way or simply engaging with us on social media. Sharing our content, tagging a friend, or shouting us out helps us reach the people who need us most.
