Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hey, my name is Paris! I was born and raised in Lincoln NE and I moved to Arizona 2 years ago. Growing up I always knew I would do something with my life to ensure my future family was taken care of financially such as becoming a lawyer or real estate I thought, life insurance was not exactly what I had dreamed of when I was a kid. Fast forward to now , I’m 22 years old and 3 1/2 years into the insurance industry and wouldn’t change a thing. Sure this industry pays well and gives you an opportunity to grow a massive business but on top of that I’ve met some of the best mentors and friends I think a young woman could ask for in this industry. In the past 6 months I have gotten sober, went from $0 in savings to 5 figures in savings and achieved my dream body. For everything I thank God but while I’m here on earth I hope to help others have a similar “bounce back” story of their own to tell.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In this industry there are a multitude of obstacles. In the business DIRECTLY the first thing I would say contributes to only 15% of people making it to their anniversary is chargebacks. Chargebacks are when the client cancels a policy before the company has obtained the 9 or 12 month advance they give you. (EX : Client pays $100 a month, $1200 over the year. The company advances you 9 months, $900. The client then cancels after 6 months, you now owe the company $300 for the 3 months they advanced you but did not collect.) Unfortunately most people make a few dollars , spend it all , get a chargeback and have problems paying everyday bills while outwitting chargebacks, leading to needing to find a more stable income. That leads to the next thing most struggle with, which is our career being 100% commission. As most know 100% commission means you eat what you kill and some find that lifestyle too stressful. On the more personal side, I have struggled with addiction but again with the help of God and great mentors I have been able to overcome and be in the position I am today.
