Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Chacon.
Hi Nichole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a wife, a mom of two, a 95- hour KAY certified kids yoga teacher, a Girl Scout leader, an avid community volunteer, and a back pain survivor! Yew yes, I stay busy! I discovered Yoga shortly after having back surgery, my back injury lasted months and had me incapable of walking without pain and using a walker daily. Once cleared from my surgeon he suggested Yoga and I jumped in a yoga studio not knowing anything but downward dog! I immediately saw the benefits of all things Yoga. I was happier, I was pain-free, I was calmer, I was a better mom, wife, friend, and neighbor. Yoga made me happier!
I knew immediately I wanted to introduce yoga not only to my own children but to ALL children and started researching if there was such a thing as a kids’ yoga teacher.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I got my 95-hour certification the week the world shut down in 2019 so I went from super excited to immediately crushed. But with that obstacle, outdoor yoga blossomed. To be honest I much prefer outside yoga to inside yoga. The children feel more free and not trapped between 4 walls.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Kids Yoga With Nichole?
I am known as Miss Nichole to many little ones in my community. Children are naturally drawn to my childlike energy which makes them feel comfortable in class. My background is full of experience working with kids of all ages in many capacities. I stand out as a kids’ yoga teacher because I solely focus on the children and their needs. I love teaching them mindfulness and being comfortable sitting in their own bodies, in silence. I can say without a doubt I am on the path I am meant to be on and I am just enjoying every single second of it!
For over a year now I put on a 2-hour monthly yoga camp in my backyard in Mesa, AZ. Each month has a different theme and mindful craft for the kids to do.
If there is a break in school you bet, I am doing a yoga camp.
I also host pop-up park yoga classes around the valley.
You can find me at the downtown Mesa farmers market the 2nd Saturday of every month for family yoga.
I offer birthdays packages, Girl Scout yoga class that come with badges, corporate kid yoga days, preschool yoga you name I am doing it!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up to be honest I was very irritable and angry. I always say “I wish I had yoga growing up, I would have been such a happier child” many agree with that statement and wish they had a mindful class they attended as a child. I was always chatty though and teachers loved me, except for the chatty part in class.
