Hidden Gems: Meet Martha Rodriguez-Sims of Health Tec Systems is the name of my LLC, a healthcare compliance firm.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martha Rodriguez-Sims.

Hi Martha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I attend a monthly women’s bible study at Faith Hope and Love Community Church in Buckeye AZ. A member made an announcement that the church has join Administer Justice a national organization, which was founded by the Salvation Army to provide low cost legal consultation to community members. At the time I was completing a Masters Degree in Legal Studies at the University of Arizona. I immediately volunteered and contacted the Champions of the project. October 2024 was our first “Legal Aid day”. I even signed up as a client. For $30 dollars I had a informative and helpful 45 minutes with a Arizona Licensed Attorney. After which volunteers offered prayer. It’s been over one year now, and I truly enjoy this volunteer commitment. We have helped visitors of all ages, from possible impending homeless, Seniors with plumbing issues, Domestic violence, child custody, and the list go’s on. You can literally see the weight on people’s shoulders fall off once they get some formal direction, learning their options and guidance. Administer Justice is a Non-profit, Donation to our Branch are use to cover the $30 fee for those who can’t afford to pay. We meet the First Saturday of each month (avoiding holidays) 8:30 am for set up-and prayer. The first client meets with the Lawyer at 9:00 am, close at 12:00 noon. https://www.administerjustice.org/location/faithhopeandlove-buckeye-az/
AJ, requires us to take a online class for our volunteer position, For example my title is Community Advocate. I have access to templates of flyers, newsletter, press releases brochures etc. that are displayed in the reception area, We have a list of resources in our area we can refer people to.. I also participate in a monthly meeting of non-profits and learn about there activities that others may not be aware of. As an example during the US Government shut-down many rallied to provide assistance if the food stamp program was effected. Some would call it a “grass roots” effort. I graduated May 2025, but due to the Government Shut-down, I have not received my license to practice as a Legal Document preparer. The FBI backround check was delayed. The draw back there is that, 7 months have passed and now I have to start paying my student loans back, and have not been able to practice as a Arizona non-Attorney-legal profession to help earn income to pay the loans. But I am being diligent to my goal of helping those with legal issues

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
From the beginning The Buckeye Administer Justice center has needed more volunteer attorneys. AJ provides us one per a month. The December “Legal Aid Day” We did have two attorneys, because one that likes the work we do and the group came to help and we kept them busy, while we have two registered appointments were no-shows, there were 3 walk-ins in addition to the 3 that did attend their appointments.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
