Hidden Gems: Meet Marnie Gaertner of First Glance Fitness and Body Sculpt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marnie Gaertner.

Hi Marnie; please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I had always been an athletic, active kid. In school, I was a gymnast and ran track. I graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1990. I knew I want to live somewhere other than Illinois, so in 1996, I moved to Phoenix, AZ, without knowing a soul or a job. It was scary, but I knew it was the fresh start I needed. I loved being active all year round, hiking, biking, running, and rollerblading. Fitness has always been a part of my life, becoming even more important in AZ. I pursued several certifications in the fitness/wellness industry, including lifestyle and weight management, personal training, aromatherapy, 3rd degree Reiki practitioner, and body contouring. I have been in the fitness industry for over 17 years, working as a personal trainer, group fitness coach, fitness studio account manager, body contouring technician, and wellness coordinator for a naturopathic doctor. I have designed and implemented nutrition plans and choreographed and coached many different workout routines that have helped clients with weight loss and improved fitness levels. I have also performed body sculpting procedures on many clients who saw great results with reduced belly fat. I currently have my practice helping women with fitness, weight loss, and belly fat reduction. I saw a need for women in menopause and post-menopausal women struggling with increased belly fat and lack of energy. I learned that during this phase of life, hormones dramatically change the body and halt previous successful methods of achieving weight loss. I am continuing to learn and expand my practice and have recently added virtual training to serve a larger demographic. My business is named First Glance Fitness and Body Sculpt. I aim to help women achieve optimal results that help them look and feel their best!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Having a business has been challenging; just like life, it has its ups and downs. The biggest obstacle is narrowing down your niche and then learning how to market to that population. I have had to give up the concept that “I can do everything myself” and have hired a marketing company and a business coach to give me much-needed help!

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is named First Glance Fitness and Body Sculpt. I help women with fitness, weight loss, and belly fat reduction. I aim to help women achieve optimal results that help them look and feel their best!

I specialize in helping women in perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause because I saw a need for women in this phase of life struggling with increased belly fat, lack of energy, and all the other unpleasant symptoms associated with menopause. I learned that hormones make a dramatic change in the body and put a halt on previous methods of success in fitness and weight loss. I continue to learn and practice to find what works best to help women during this time.

My years of knowledge and personal experience in the fitness/wellness arena set me apart from others. I use myself as a guinea pig to try new things to deliver the best results for my clients. I live what I preach and am a walking example of my business. I am most proud that I have taken an area of my life that I have been passionate about and dedicated to for so long and turned it into a business to help others experience a healthier lifestyle. I want the readers to know that I am dedicated to achieving the desired results. I give each client a personalized plan for their fitness level and needs. I am a one-person operation, so they will always work only with me. I will be their biggest cheerleader because I know how good it feels to achieve one’s goals. I have a virtual program so that I can serve a greater demographic. This allows me to work with women across the country. Any big plans?
Spirituality has been a huge part of my life since I moved to AZ. I was meditating before meditating “was cool,” and I spent a lot of time in Sedona, AZ. Therefore, I decided to merge this aspect of my life into my business. I am looking forward to adding yoga and Reiki to my business. I just recently started offering group Reiki/meditation with Dr Carrie Barlow at Immersive Cleansing in Cave Creek, Az. I also just added 2 more certifications; online personal trainer and nutrition specialist, this will allow me to really expand my Virtual Get Fit program. I am looking forward to helping a bigger demographic.
