Hidden Gems: Meet Markisha Reed of CreditbyKay

Hi Markisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
About three years ago I decided to get my credit right because I wanted to buy a house for my daughter’s. Coming from Compton, California I never thought that I could be a business owner but I am thanks be to God. I wanted to help others get their buying power back; no more denials.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing up in the hood seeing my friends have their fathers really hurt me. Knowing my dad was in and out of jail due to his addiction, it caused a strain on our relationship. Going to church singing in the choir and playing sports in school helped me through those hard times. After graduating high school, I decided to make a major shift in my life. I moved to Glendale Arizona. I attended Arizona Automotive Institute, I graduated June of 2006 with my degree in Automotive. Shortly after finishing school I found out that I was pregnant with my oldest daughter Breanna. My mom was so happy to be a grandma but her health was taking a turn for the worse. So, I moved back to California to help her. I had my daughter soon after in California, it was one of the happiest days of my life. As I was driving home from work, I was involved in a car accident and broke my leg. I couldn’t walk for two months. The plane was to go back to California to help my mom and she ended up taking care of my daughter during my recovery period. This was a turning point in my life because I found myself having to learn how to walk all over again. All the while my mom was getting sicker. On September 19, 2009 my mom passed away, she is no longer in pain. I made the hard decision to move back to Arizona to leave a real legacy in memory of her. Now here I am, 3 years in building a massive successful team. Teaching credit and finances to families around the nation. I am a true definition of a Survivor.
