Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizzie Burton.

Hi Lizzie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

I’ve been photographing for four years now and have come to realize the most important moments are cherished when you feel like there’s no care in the world. Being that most authentic YOU. I want to be a part of that freedom on your day, whether it’s from you graduating college or getting married to your best friend.

As Arizona and Idaho are considered my home, I deeply care about seeing and capturing connections, so if that means to fly to Europe, I will be there. I’m always looking at the smallest details that make your story into a little movie. I am not interested in photographing an unrealistic version of you. Because after everything is said and done, photography should be real. The truth.

If you are looking for a photographer that provides overly posed photos with fancy equipment and bright lights, we may not be the best fit – and that’s okay! However, if you are down with me capturing the moments of you feeling comfortable and confident, forgetting what I am even there for – I am your girl. I am surrounded by both natural beauty and amazing people who encourage me to only get better. I care about those simple things in life. Hiking and traveling. Enjoying time with friends and family. This is what I want to capture because it’s what happiness looks like. It’s real – an experience that feels true and genuine to you. Adventures are meant to be captured. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

If I went back two years, I wouldn’t think I would’ve made this business successful. It took me many trials and errors to figure out how I want this business to play out. The biggest obstacle I’ve encountered would be moving to Arizona for college at NAU. It was a complete restart for my business because it meant I had to find people that want my work. In the beginning, I felt like this was the end of my business. No one was booking because my prices were high, Covid was hitting, and no one knew me. I decided it was time to be serious and invest in my business if I wanted it to be successful. What did this mean for me?

Well, it started with reaching out to random students and couples who followed other Arizona photographers. I reached out and asked if they would want to model for free so I can start building a new portfolio. Once I did a few of these, more and more people started coming in. As this was a challenge, I learned that like any entrepreneur, you need to invest in what’s important, even if it meant no profit in the beginning. I got involved in the photography community here in Arizona, which also led me to amazing friendships and second-shooting opportunities.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Golden Honey Photography is known for photography services from portraits to branding to weddings. Now, that sounds like any typical wedding or portrait photographer in the area, but I’m focused on building a trusting relationship with my clients. I will be in touch with you from the inquiry to the end. I don’t mind if I become your best friend or a third wheel during your session.

I am inspired by you. I learn about you, so I can create a story that best fits you. My mission is to capture memories of you feeling like you. No awkward smiles or weird poses. I give you prompts to feel your most comfortable self to get those perfect images of you. Does that mean you might be running freely or telling your partner something funny in their ear? Yes, it absolutely does! I’m here for those candid and cinematic moments. I want my audience to think like they’re on film. Those beautiful, soft-grain photos. Like they are in a movie. Be romantic. Feel beautiful. Love these moments.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite memory as a child would be taking family trips around the country to see family or fun attractions. Jumping the waves on the beach, seeing buffalo at Yellowstone, etc. I am forever grateful to my parents for introducing me to these memories because I truly believe I’m a travel junky and want to see everything there is to offer.
