Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Kirsh
Hi Lindsay, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always celebrated my independence; I’ve always taken the road less traveled.
As a girl born and raised in Toronto, Canada moving countries and to different states, it’s been an epic journey. At 10 years old, I saw the 90s classic movie ‘Singles’, introducing me to grunge music. I said to myself, “one day, I am going to go see that place Seattle and explore (the lost) grunge music scene.” In 2015, I did just that and made the big move to Seattle with Toronto in the literal rearview.
When I arrived in Seattle, I accepted a position at a boutique public relations agency, overseeing the food & beverage practice. Unbeknownst to me at the time, I would have to rebuild my career and forge new professional and personal relationships which aren’t created overnight. My trusted media contacts were left behind in Canada, and so were my family and friends – who have always been my biggest support teams. I didn’t realize that even writing a press release would be different (CP vs. AP style).
What I thought I knew about the US business landscape completely changed – the cultural nuances, expectations, budgets and ways of working. There was no shortage of challenges, growing pains, and major adjustments during this period. As I navigated these challenges, one thing remained true: I was going to build a PR firm to have the creative freedom and runway to build impactful PR campaigns – without limitations.
I understood the importance of putting time into the corporate world, learning from senior leadership and seasoned industry pros. It was about getting as much experience as possible and eventually applying it to run a successful PR firm.
Then came the other dream: moving to Arizona. After seeing the movie Thelma and Louise for the first time in 2010, I had to see Arizona and Utah. In 2022, I moved to Phoenix, found my way once again and am right where I want to be – an independent business owner creating bold campaigns for clients equally as bold and fearless.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t believe it’s a smooth ride when it comes to pursuing professional and personal dreams. We often romanticize the idea and expected outcomes, paying little attention to the challenges along the way. When they hit…they really hit.
As entrepreneurs, we are leaders – and we must take care of our people every step of the way. Having a team helps us navigate the challenges of running a new business – even when we reach our goals, I maintain committed to developing our team, investing in our people, and offering them professional development opportunities that empower them to be thought leaders. With this commitment, I have built a team that is dedicated to bringing Slayer PR and their careers to the next level. In the end, not only do they reap the benefits, so do our clients, knowing they have a dedicated and inspired team that will achieve their goals.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Slayer PR is about defying the status-quo, and inspiring brands to take bold measures when it comes to public relations. If we aren’t pushing boundaries, someone else will, and to us that’s a missed opportunity for our clients. If a campaign has been seen before, it won’t be seen again.
Having spent 15 years in the agency and corporate PR world, I quickly identified key opportunities, particularly the need for modernized, boutique PR firms led by former corporate and agency executives.
These firms, like Slayer PR, are focused on delivering the same high-quality results, but with greater efficiency, precision, and cost-effectiveness. We have over 15 years of experience working with global agencies and as in-house counsel representing Fortune 500 companies, national brands and everything in between. Our experience has allowed us to build strong relationships with media, business leaders, communities, brands, and key stakeholders to make sure the message hits home.
Our approach is a blend of bold innovation, smart strategy, and a sixth sense for what’s coming next. We’re the team that brands trust when they need to transform their identity from generic to fresh-faced innovators.
We provide every client with an exceptional, personalized experience that larger agencies often struggle to offer and recognize that each client is unique – and we take the time to listen, understand, and tailor our approach to meet their specific needs – our clients never have to question what we are working on and how much time is being spent on their account. In a nutshell, brands can move away from agency bureaucracy, and work with a tight-knit team that takes a personalized approach in achieving their unique goals – without paying for our overhead or any surprise fees.
Our greatest pride lies in being relentless champions for our clients. We craft captivating, unforgettable moments designed to build lasting brand equity and ensure consistent positive media coverage, backed by the critical assets required for flawless campaign execution. When client campaigns come to life and surpass expectations, we take immense pride in our team’s achievements and know we have the right partners in place to drive success.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Acting boldly, fearlessly, and direct has empowered me to take calculated risks while always prioritizing our team. Success starts with having the right people in place and fostering an environment where they can thrive and reach their full potential—this is the foundation of everything we do.
