Hidden Gems: Meet Keyana Glass of Queen’s Touch Experience LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keyana Glass.

Hi Keyana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I never saw myself doing hair as a business. My sister, Lynnorah Eddington, taught me how to braid when I was 12, so I always had the skill, but not the passion. I’d braid family and friends for free because if I charged, that meant it was a business, and that just wasn’t me.

At the time, I was a full-time PCP scheduling specialist for Banner Health and working weekends overnight at Amazon, all while raising my son alone. But on December 1, 2020, my paycheck came up short, and I needed to make rent. That’s when I decided to put my gift to use. I created my StyleSeat on December 3rd, and clients started booking right away. I’d take clients in my living room after my 8:30–5pm shift, then work Amazon weekends. It was survival, but God had bigger plans.

From the start, I prayed over my business and surrendered it to God. I asked Him to send the right clients and become the CEO of it all. That changed everything. I named my business Queen’s Touch, because I’ve always believed my hands were blessed, and my clients are royalty.

In the beginning, I had no real knowledge of the hair industry. I didn’t go to cosmetology school, and I often felt defeated when I couldn’t answer natural hair questions or do certain styles. The pressure and anxiety almost made me quit. But I decided to go back to school through research from Instagram, YouTube, everywhere. I studied braiding patterns, techniques, hair products, anything to grow.

Slowly, I started building the business my way. I created booking questionnaires to reduce misunderstandings, only accepted clients after a personal consultation, and took just one client a day to protect my peace and spend time with my family. I wanted my business to reflect me, so I added complimentary mimosas and snacks, an $15 credit towards lunch for styles longer than 5 hours, and even a reclining chair so clients could relax or nap. The more I made it my own, the more I fell in love with it.

Over time, I noticed many clients had scalp conditions like alopecia, psoriasis, dandruff, thinning hair, bald spots, etc. I wanted to help more, so I formulated my own Fenugreek & Chebe Hair Growth Oil, and when clients started seeing results, it began selling out. I later started offering braid classes to help others start their journey just like I did.

What started as a side hustle became Queen’s Touch Experience, and my slogan became: “Treat your hair like royalty—it’s the crown you never take off.”

But the journey hasn’t been easy. Financial instability, inflation, work-life balance, and self-doubt all tested me. I used to compare my work to other braiders, even my sister, and it made me want to quit. But instead of letting it break me, I let it build me. I kept learning. I kept growing. Every time I evolved, my business did too.

Now, I don’t just braid hair, I created a safe space. A healing space. A place where everyone would feel seen, pampered, and renewed. This business made me bolder. It shows my kids what resilience, faith, and legacy look like.

If I could talk to the younger me, I’d say to her: “What God gave you is enough. Stop comparing. Your gift is just as valuable. Every small win matters. You’re not just doing hair, you’re serving with purpose. Trust the process. Trust God.”

And the scripture that keeps me grounded is Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” It reminds me that even when things are slow, uncertain, or heavy, my harvest is coming. And I’m committed to showing up, every day, until it does.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I started my business out of urgency, not preparation. I didn’t have formal training, so I struggled with confidence when clients asked questions I couldn’t answer or requested styles I hadn’t learned yet. I also dealt with misunderstandings about style expectations, which created anxiety around each appointment.

Financial instability was one of the hardest parts—keeping up with rising costs while trying to stay affordable nearly pushed me back to corporate life. Balancing being a wife, mom, and full-time entrepreneur was overwhelming, so I had to restructure my business around peace and purpose.

I also battled comparison—especially to my sister and more experienced braiders. It almost made me quit. But I chose to grow instead of give up, and every challenge helped shape the woman and business owner I am today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Queen’s Touch Experience LLC?
At Queen’s Touch Experience, I offer luxury braiding services with an intentional focus on retention, low tension, and healthy natural hair care. If you’re looking for a braider who’s a perfectionist about clean parts, neat braids, and protecting your crown, you’ve found me.

But it’s not just about the style, it’s about the experience. Every appointment is personalized, peaceful, and purposeful. I care deeply about making sure my clients not only look beautiful but feel cared for and confident when they leave my chair. From thoughtful consultations to complimentary snacks, complimentary mimosas, $15 credit towards lunch, and relaxing vibes. Everything I do is designed to serve the whole person—not just their hair.

What sets me apart is the love and detail I pour into every braid. My mission is simple: “Treat your hair like royalty—it’s the crown you never take off.” And that’s exactly what I strive to give every client who sits in my chair.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Honestly, I didn’t have a formal mentor when I started, I had to figure a lot of things out through trial, error, prayer, and research. But what helped me the most was being intentional about observing and learning. I followed other braiders whose work I admired, not to copy them, but to study their techniques, structure, and professionalism. I’d watch tutorials, take notes, and then apply what I learned to make it my own. That became a form of mentorship for me.

For networking, what’s worked well is just being genuine. I show up as myself, online and in person. I don’t try to force connections. I believe that the right people will align with your energy when your intentions are pure. Supporting others, leaving encouraging comments, sharing helpful content, and just being kind, it goes a long way. And I’ve met some amazing women in the industry that way.

Also, don’t be afraid to invest in classes or reach out to people you admire. You never know who’s willing to pour into you until you ask. But even if no one responds, keep going. Sometimes, God will make you your own mentor first.
