Hidden Gems: Meet John Ellis of Menasi Apperal

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Ellis.

Hi John, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I go grew loving to dress and fashion. My biggest dream is to have my clothing line and my custom shoes in stores and to have my own store and website. I want to bring affordable fashion to the youth.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a road. I had many obstacles. Almost every time, I ran into financial problems… It takes a lot of start-up money.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a black-owned business. I specialize in custom shoes and clothing. Made to order garments. The one thing that sets me apart from every other clothing line is my customer service. I sit with my customer and I talk to them about what they want, what they are willing to pay and how they feel about the process. I send pictures throughout the whole process. Everything is tailored to my customers. If a customer order a pair a custom shoe, they receive a custom shoe bag with there name or nickname. The thing I’m most proud about of my brand is how my garments put a smile on my customer’s faces. I want my customers and the readers to know is that they matter and there the most important part of the process. I want to deliver custom garments at a reasonable and affordable price. I offer custom shoes, shirts, masks, etc.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Customer service and quality products. I want to give my customer the best I can at all times.
