Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Keogh
Hi Jodi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m proud to call Flagstaff my hometown—it’s a place that has shaped both my life and my career. Growing up in this close-knit community, I quickly understood the power of relationships and how word-of-mouth can drive success. That insight has been at the heart of K4’s growth, as I work with integrity and a deep passion for representing local businesses.
My journey hasn’t been without its challenges. During my senior year of high school, I faced multiple surgeries, including the loss of a kidney to a tumor. While I missed out on some friendships, experiences, and athletic opportunities, I found strength in perseverance and a commitment to moving forward. After high school, I became the youngest bartender at a local pub and later broke barriers as the first female bartender at a bar in downtown Denver.
As I transitioned from bartending, I found major success in beer distribution sales and helped launch a craft brewery upon returning to Flagstaff. This led me to discover a passion for connecting businesses and nonprofits, which inspired entrepreneurial ventures, including co-owning a Bio-Hazard Transport company and managing fundraising events for local charities.
When the pandemic hit, I saw how much local businesses were struggling and knew I had to act. That’s when I launched K4 Marketing, channeling my experiences, network, and love for my community into helping businesses thrive on social media. My journey is rooted in self-belief, determination, and a relentless pursuit of growth.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To be honest, K4 Marketing feels like it was meant to be. Every challenge, lesson, and growing pain has taught me something valuable for the next step. Starting K4 was driven by my desire to create more intentional time with my family, and the flexibility of the business model has made that possible—though “flexible hours” often turn into far more hours than I ever imagined!
I’ve definitely faced struggles, like losing friends who became clients, largely due to weak boundaries and the learning curve of working with diverse businesses. Each client is unique, and understanding their individual needs was a lesson learned on the job.
Financial challenges have also been part of the journey. There have been months where the budget was tight, but my husband Ryan and I are a great team, and we’ve always been able to live within our means, thankfully! Working with small, local businesses means I’ve occasionally dealt with late payments, which can be frustrating but also reminds me of the shared grind of entrepreneurship. I deeply respect their efforts, and that understanding has shaped how I approach my partnerships and even personal relationships.
We’ve been impressed with K4 Marketing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
K4 Marketing is a social media marketing agency with a passion for supporting local businesses in Flagstaff, Arizona. We specialize in creating tailored digital strategies that authentically showcase each client’s unique story, services, and successes. What sets us apart is our personal connection with clients—this isn’t just about creating trendy content or chasing views. We genuinely care about the owners, staff, customers, and their growth.
What makes this even more meaningful is how it’s become a family experience. Watching my children learn about local businesses and seeing the joy on their faces as they run into a kitchen to get a quick hug or an ice cream from an owner reminds me how personal these partnerships truly are. It’s a privilege to work alongside businesses that make our community special, and I value every relationship we’ve built along the way.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I’d love to share how much this journey has meant to me on a personal level. Every day is a learning experience as I navigate the challenges of running a small business, and I am incredibly grateful for the trust my clients place in me. The relationships I’ve built are more than just business connections—they’re true partnerships. I’m honored to be a part of their stories, and my network’s support has been a driving force in our growth. It’s a joy to watch my children experience the impact of these relationships firsthand.
I’m also deeply honored to employ local talent. Right now, we have an incredible all-women team, each of whom is on their own journey of launching small businesses in fields like photography, accounting, and content creation. It feels wonderful to be able to support others who have always supported me.
