Hidden Gems: Meet Jennifer Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Smith.

Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started quite a while ago when I was teaching health & nutrition to parents through a school district I worked for at the time. I was wanting to help parents understand what was in their food & products so they could nourish both themselves and their children properly, without all the fuss. During this educational journey, I would provide examples of brands that I would recommend and that were not only safe to use, but that I used for my children & family. Brands that supported holistic ways of healing, chemical-free products, and natural solutions.

As the years passed the list got smaller and smaller and I was discovering that even brands that were once naturally based had turned to synthetic ingredients to increase profits or had been bought out by bigger brands. This is how Laine Co Beauty got its start! I had lots of people that wanted something good, that was also for them, and so I set out to provide just that! I make everything from scratch and create my recipes using natural & organic ingredients from methods used hundreds of years ago.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing great comes from a place of easiness! My road to get here has cost me jobs, relationships, family, and friends.

And honestly, I am okay with that! Through this journey, I have learned that not everyone is on the same road and not everyone is for me either. There has been a major move, hiccups with health & finances, and personal struggles, to name a few! I’m pretty sure this is God’s will at this point.

He put me where he needed me to be at every point in my life so far & I wouldn’t have It any other way! As a single mother to 4 amazing children, my life is never easy. So why not throw a business in the mix and see where it goes? (It’s going phenomenal btw!)

As you know, we’re big fans of Laine Co Beauty. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The concept of making personal care products is not new. It’s one of the oldest around. What sets my brand and company apart from others that have similar products are the ingredients I use and the love I have for my customers. I 100% care about people and what they are going through. I will hear their story and what their needs are and I tell everyone this, and I mean it, I don’t care if you buy from me or someone else as long as you are educated about what you are buying and understand how the ingredients help you specifically.

I use a special ingredient that is imported from Hawaii for my soaps and it is not cheap but is far superior to anything else I have ever used. Laine Co Beauty is most known for its super clean ingredients & products that live up to their name. As a mom, I don’t like to clean any more than I already have to so when I say my products have clean ingredients, I mean that they do not stick to surfaces & wash away cleanly from you and your home. The more you use our products, like the body butter, the more your body chemistry kicks in and the less you need it. You can also count on us to source all of our ingredients right here in the USA and to never use imported ingredients.

What matters most to you?
My customers are the most important thing to me. Which is a carryover from my friends being the most important thing to me for most of my life. I wasn’t fortunate enough to have a large family or even a close family so I hold connections very dear. When people speak, I listen and I care deeply. Probably too much at times! I have an adopted son, a rescued pup & a huge heart (quite literally, as that’s one of my health conditions).

I always knew I lived my life putting others first but recently a dear friend of mine told me that I am the “most selfless person” he’s ever known and he’s not the only person to ever say this, it just meant the most coming from him. So I truly believe being a customer-based business is the basis for Laine Co Beauty & letting my customers know that I would not be where I am without them. You all are very appreciated, thank you.
