Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Seagrave.
Hi Erica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
MJS Consultants, LLC is the third business I have owned. Prior to this, I owned and operated two medical services companies, one of which I sold in 2018. After the acquisition, I made the decision to become a business coach and consultant full-time to help entrepreneurs become better leaders and teach them the skills needed to grow a business from the ground up with minimal resources, just as I did.
Another component of my business is concierge consulting, where I work closely with the c-suite and advise them on best practices and strategies on how to grow a business and operate it more efficiently to maximize revenue. I also assist with brand development, employee manuals, quality assurance plans, and forming mission statements and core values.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a business is never smooth. There are always challenges, especially when solopreneurs and entrepreneurs wear many hats and play multiple roles within the company.
My current challenge as a business consultant is having consistent clients. In this industry, each client and project is different. Some projects take more time than others and some are fairly straightforward, which is why I interview my clients to make sure I am a good fit for them and they are a good fit for me.
We’ve been impressed with MJS Consultants, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
MJS Consultants is unique, as we offer two types of services. Business Coaching is designed to work closely with leaders to improve their mindset and give them the tools they need to level up in their businesses.
Business Consulting is designed to provide concierge services, which offers businesses anything they might need from strategies for growth to hiring and retaining employees to marketing and brand recognition to developing manuals.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am a huge fan of taking calculated risks. Freedom is one of my core values. I am not fearful of change or challenges and have enjoyed owning and operating my businesses for the past 20 years. I am adamant about time freedom, financial freedom, and relationship freedom.
I take risks every time I start a new business. Taking risks means you are not afraid to fail. Failing is how we learn, improve, and grow.
