Today we’d like to introduce you to Ehecatl Pérez
Hi Ehecatl , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in a small town in Michoac
án Mexico. There I had my first contact with the authentic culinary passion because i could see that in spite of the limited resources the mothers found different ways to cook something unique and delicious every day, with a lot of creativity but above all with love.
Felt in love with all about the cuisines I moved to Cancun Mexico to discover my calling. There I started working in a beach club, passing through author restaurants, to ultra-luxury hotels, performing functions in kitchen, bar, service and general manager. That gave me the opportunity to cowork with some of the best chefs in Mexico and some in the world. During this life journey, a deep love for wine grew in me, and I decided to study as a sommelier,
During all this development of my career I realized that to create a dish or drink that surprises and generates the most intense emotions it is necessary to take care of each ingredient from its origin to each process through which it passes, and that the art of finding the thread that connects each flavor is like an alchemist looking for the magic.
Also during this adventure I was able to meet true love, which gave me the opportunity to move to the United States, where I am looking to establish myself as one of the most important private chefs in the area, and in the medium term to have a restaurant Where I can show every visitor alchemy and love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working in customer service and especially in places with a lot of traffic means dedicating many hours and also a lot of physical wear and tear, you also sacrifice a lot of your loved ones, and it takes you away from them, In my case, in order to pursue my dream I have had to be far away from my daughter who is still in Mexico and I dream of being able to bring her with me.
We’ve been impressed with Flavor alchemist , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We provide a private chef service with knowledge of Mexican, Japanese, Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, as well as sommelier and mixologist. From a romantic dinner to a friends or corporate event. Privileging the quality in the service we have a maximum of 30 people per event. My passion for the culinary roots and how I can make that event different it’s all about create a memory for my costumers but also to me and my team.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I want to be recognized as one of the area’s fastest developing private chefs with a unique style. Right now I collaborate as a chef for Airbnb. Which provides an opportunity for travelers visiting this beautiful city to get to know a bit of my alchemy. Also I want to establish an own restaurant with a unique and exclusive offer.
