Hidden Gems: Meet Denise Bozenski of Revive & Thrive Canine Wellness & Fetch This Canine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Bozenski.

Hi Denise, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My path into holistic canine wellness wasn’t sparked by a single event, it was a culmination of experiences over many years. Each dog, each challenge, and each loss pushed me to rethink what it really means to care for our animals.

I’ve been a professional dog trainer for almost 10 years. While I’ve always loved the behavioral side of things, I eventually wanted more freedom to build something on my own terms and dive deeper into holistic wellness, which had become incredibly personal to me over time.

That journey actually began over a decade ago when my now 15-year-old dog tore her first CCL at age 4. We chose to avoid surgery and focused on rehab, supplementation, and supportive therapies and ultimately, my first introduction to alternative approaches to care.

A few years later, I lost my 8-year-old dog to complications from lupus. That loss hit me hard. I wanted to know how to do better; how to support health before things fell apart. That’s when I got certified as a canine nutritionist and started applying what I learned to my own dogs and my clients’ dogs, too.

When my senior girl tore her second CCL at age 11, I already knew I wouldn’t put her through surgery. We were committed to holistic recovery but after losing two holistic vets to relocation in just a couple of years, I realized I couldn’t keep relying on other people to guide this process. I needed to become the resource my dogs deserved. I just didn’t know where to start.

Then I lost my 4-year-old dog unexpectedly to cancer. I never had the chance to step in, and that still weighs on me. But not long after, a client-turned-family friend came to me when his 2-year-old dog was diagnosed with cancer. That time, I did get to help. We built a holistic protocol and got her into a trial vaccine program. She’s now been cancer-free for over two years.

That was the moment everything changed. I stopped waiting for someone else to have the answers. I started making changes in my own home; cleaning up our environment, switching to safer products, and doing everything I could to reduce my dogs’ toxic load. When I found the Holistic Pet Health Coach program, I dove in and got certified.

From there, I kept going. I began studying bodywork modalities, things like acupressure, red light therapy, and massage, so I could help dogs feel better, move more freely, and live with more comfort, starting with my own.

Last year, I lost my other senior girl unexpectedly, likely due to a brain tumor. It all happened so fast, and I didn’t have the chance to support her the way I would have wanted to. And now, my 15-year-old is managing the arthritis and hip dysplasia that came from years of compensation and early spay. Supporting her is part of my daily rhythm now, and she’s a big reason why I do this work. I also have 4 other dogs of my own that I want to help live long, healthy lives, as well as countless clients.

Today, I run Revive & Thrive Canine Wellness, where I build customized wellness plans, offer nutritional and environmental guidance, and use hands-on therapies to support the whole dog. I also run Fetch This Canine, my training business, where I help dogs learn to listen, regulate, and reconnect with their people.

To me, true wellness includes both mind and body. Behavior and health are always connected, and I’m here to support the whole dog.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, more like trial and error, with a lot of learning the hard way. One of the hardest parts has been losing dogs before I even had the chance to help them. Those experiences were heartbreaking, but they’re also what pushed me to keep going. I’ve had to navigate grief, frustration, and uncertainty while trying to piece together the best way forward, often without a roadmap. But every setback helped shape the work I do now and made it that much more personal.

We’ve been impressed with Revive & Thrive Canine Wellness & Fetch This Canine, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Both of my businesses, Revive & Thrive Canine Wellness and Fetch This Canine, are built on one simple but powerful belief: dogs are whole beings, and we need to start treating them that way.

What sets me apart is that I don’t separate behavior from health. I look at the full picture, because physical discomfort often shows up as behavioral issues, and chronic stress or emotional imbalance can absolutely affect a dog’s overall health. Rather than following the same outdated paths the industry has pushed for decades, I help dog parents see that there are better, more informed, and more connected ways to care for their dogs.

At Revive & Thrive Canine Wellness, I specialize in creating personalized, holistic wellness protocols designed to support dogs from the inside out. My approach is tailored, practical, and rooted in the belief that every dog deserves to feel good in their body. I offer canine nutrition and supplementation plans that support digestion, reduce inflammation, strengthen the immune system, and promote overall resilience. I also help dog owners reduce toxic load in the home through environmental clean-up strategies and detox support.

For dogs recovering from surgery, injury, or long working shifts, I offer customized recovery planning that prioritizes healing, pain management, and long-term joint health. I use techniques like massage, acupressure, red light therapy, ANMR, craniosacral therapy, kinesiology taping, myofascial release, aromatherapy, and raindrop therapy to relieve tension, improve mobility, and support the nervous system in a non-invasive, gentle way. For dogs facing serious diagnoses like cancer, I offer supportive protocols that focus on nutrition, detox, immune support, and emotional well-being such as reiki energy healing, helping to complement veterinary care.

I also work extensively with senior dogs to support longevity and quality of life. That includes targeted strategies for joint support, cognitive function, better sleep, and overall comfort. Whether your dog is dealing with chronic health issues or you’re simply looking for a more natural approach to their care, I offer one-on-one consultations, virtual or in-person (in Arizona), to build a plan that works for your dog and your lifestyle. No guesswork. No templates. Just honest, grounded support to help your dog thrive.

Through Fetch This Canine, I offer realistic, relationship-based training for both dogs and their people. I focus on structure, communication, and emotional regulation, helping dogs become responsive and calm, while teaching owners how to lead with clarity and consistency. My goal is to train the humans as much (if not more) than the dogs, because sustainable behavior change starts with the person on the other end of the leash.

My signature service is a 3-week board-and-train program, where dogs come to training during the week and return home on weekends. This unique structure gives dogs consistent, professional guidance while keeping them emotionally grounded with their family. Owners are given at-home tasks and weekly homework so they’re learning alongside their dog and reinforcing progress every step of the way.

What I’m most proud of is that these two brands work hand-in-hand to serve the whole dog. I’m not here to slap a quick fix on symptoms or issues. I’m here to empower dog owners to become strong advocates, to understand the deeper “why” behind their dog’s behavior or health challenges, and to feel confident that they’re doing what’s best for their dog; body, mind, and soul.

Because when dog parents know more, they can do more and that’s what truly makes the difference.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was outgoing, talkative, and competitive growing up, a tomboy who loved sports, being outdoors, and animals. Sports played a big role in my life, teaching me work ethic and determination, and showing me how to push through challenges. I always stood up for what I believed in and wasn’t afraid to speak my mind. We always had dogs, and starting at 11yo, I was dog-sitting for friends, which gave me an early sense of responsibility. I wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as I could remember, and even though life took me in a different direction, that passion never faded. And even though I’m not a veterinarian now, I’ve still found my own way to help dogs.

Those early experiences shaped who I am today and set the foundation for the work I do now, helping dogs more holistically and continuing to advocate for what I believe is best for them.
