Hidden Gems: Meet Daren DeSylvia of Social Axe Throwing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daren DeSylvia.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Me and my business partner were having some beers in his garage when we realized we both had thought about opening up in Axe Throwing place after going to one. I knew the people in Utah that opened up Social act so I told him I might have an opportunity for us And the rest of his history.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s been so much learning through failure. My first year my motto was fail forward. And once you overcome an obstacle, there’s always another one.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are in Axe Throwing venue. We have eight lanes inside and four lanes on our back patio. We can do one hour Throwing or we also have a two hour main event which is a little bit more of a party for larger groups. We also have a mobile Axe Throwing trailer in which we can bring the ax drawing to you. We have leagues on Monday night and Tuesday night. We have food and drinks as well as adult alcohol beverages. You can also rent out our entire venue for a large corporate event.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how safe our city feels. I wasn’t a fan of how long it took to get permits during our build out.
